    For similar reasons, I nearly always drive to dad's farm (6:45 hrs on software, typically 8 with my rest needs) rather than fly.

    Did you make enough allowance for pre-flight ground time within the airport? That doesn't look like enough for my closest airport (SeaTac).

    Plus, limited and non-ideal flight schedules seriously constrain timing when traveling by air. Driving allows much greater flexibility, e.g. not leaving until all morning or even mid-day farm chores are done.

    Uh-oh, looks like another company ordering trucks, apparently not realizing how close Tesla is to going under ...

    TSLA is incredibly high volume for shorts. Lots of paid hit, erm, "articles" (for lack of a better term).

    Of course the vast majority of the criticism is coming from the same political spectrum that wrote the auto bailouts which cost the taxpayers billions of dollars. Now they're criticizing Tesla for benefitting from the EV subsidy (while ignoring dealership and oil subsidies which are many thousands of times greater) and claiming that Tesla screwed the taxpayers by paying back its government loan in full because it did so early.

    Am I happy about Tesla's current cap ex rate? No.

    Am I going to listen to the words of GM's most prominent marketing exec? Much bigger no.

    It's actually GM's ex-exec. Who's own post-GM ventures aren't doing so well.

    yeah, was just pointing out that people love to quote him and claim he is some massively successful designer/engineer of some sort.

    he's a marketing exec, and his most notable success was helping to milk the taxpayers for money to bail out GM.

    edit: also asking bob lutz about finance is like asking your auto mechanic what medicine to take

    I'd also make it clear that he was part of the old-dead-imploded GM, that one that went bankrupt and left its shareholders with zilch, not the legally different new-GM that took over its name and assets, while shedding most of the liabilities.

    lest we forget, those liabilities were subcontractors ... & literally hundreds of millions in super fund - toxic clean up dollars - 100's of acres of various manufacturing sites. Yep, it's good to shed liabilities, all the while claiming, "look how profitable we already are!" after bankruptcy. I would have really respected GM if they had at least offered partially to clean up some of their own toxic /abandoned mess.
    No use crying over spilled milk I suppose. Hopefully we learn from history.

    It seems that people here associate Lutz only with GM. He was was with Ford, BMW, and very notably, Chrysler, as "father" of the Viper.

    oh - I don't mind showing him for being the tool that he is. How about this, news from Pepsi .... upping Auntie with 100 Tesla trucks ordered;
    PepsiCo makes biggest public pre-order of Tesla Semis: 100 trucks | Reuters

    I wonder if anyone will confront Bob Lutz with this news - which sure seems to fly in the face of his crystal ball prediction.

    It may be the same engine. They mention a 650cc two cylinder.
