I just heard from the dealer. There is a new map version SD Card coming out in mid November. They will let me know when they get it in.

@Dennis_MA any word from your dealership? Do you know the part number or the version yet?

Was at my dealer (Maryland) yesterday for 5K service and checked while I was there - not out yet.

Just received an email from my salesperson that said he was expecting them by the end of November however they do not have a shipping tracking number yet. This was late last week. I plan to follow up next week.

I flat do not like Toyota's navigation system ever since it failed me, luckily I had my TomTom with me and was taken right to the door. My TomTom cost me about $150 with life time maps and traffic. I went for the ProClips mounts so on the Prime it works out just fine. I'll take a picture and post it here.

Using Toyota's navigation set to quick and driving down from San Francisco to San Mateo, 25 miles, it kept directing me to city streets rather than staying in the highway. This is when I decided to go back to the TomTom.

I have the ProClip mount as well. I use the Waze App on my cellphone as a backup. I do like the Nav system in the Prime, but it is nice to have a backup. I am getting the SD Card for free as I pointed out that the maps were outdated when I purchased the car. I would never pay for a map update.

Here is the picture of the TomTom as mounted in the Prius Prime.

No SD Card yet. I should have an updated delivery date in a couple of days.

Got the card today. I was told that the 04-01-2017 (ver 17.1) is the current version, which fine with me. I can't imagine them updating those things more than once a year. My local road recent changes are now appearing on my nav system so I am happy.

Now I’m confused about why you had to wait. @Mark57 earlier in this thread mentioned he has the 4.1.17 dated map on his car, which he took delivery on this past August. Are you saying the dealer is claiming no fall update, or that there will be an update but you decided to go with the April version instead?

I suspect the dealer had a bunch of old cards hanging around and put them in the Nav systems of car they sell and 99% of the people do not notice. I did and they needed to order updated cards.

That's the card that most likely would have been in your vehicle before they swapped it out originally thinking they were giving you a newer one at the time.

The card in the car when I purchased it was a 2016 map version. This card is clearly newer. I think they were confused as to what is the newest version. I noticed some recent road changes in my area were not appearing on the map which prompted me to look at the map version. The changes appear with the new card.

In the past, Toyota NAV map updates always came out in the late fall. This may still be true. This morning, my wife received an email stating a map update was available for her 2014 Camry Hybrid. Her Camry is not an SD card update type. It is installed via a USB stick and validated by the dealer. If there is a map update, it will be available on all media types, not just the USB type. The email link takes me to the local Toyota dealer page. We've not had the need to update her 2014 maps.

The email came from Gulf States Toyota marketing,

We got the same email this week from our dealer for our ‘14 Prius V. I have not received similar for my Prime.

I've not gotten it on my 2014 4Runner or Prime either.

Does anyone have the part number for the latest version? I can’t seem to find it on Toyota Parts online site

It's printed on the MicroSd card itself. If you pop yours out you could goggle it and see if they have a reference to a newer one on the same site. Beware, it's printed "very" small on the card. Don't do this with the vehicle on in any way.
