I wanted to install a front camera (or sensors) to help prevent scraping the front of the car every time I park facing the kerb. The major problem that I encountered was how to get the wiring from the engine compartment into the cabin without creating too much havoc.

But I have found another solution, which I will give a try.

You can buy a cheap front camera from AliExpress for $8, or a much fancier one for $25. A small (4.3") folding screen costs around $20. And the final piece in the puzzle - a wireless transmitter and receiver with all the wires - costs another $10.

So I have a feasible solution for somewhere between $38 and $55.

Anyone have any thoughts or comments on this?

I had a similar one for my reversing camera on a car 6 years ago. The camera wirelessly connected to the receiver which I attached to the dashboard (plugged into 12v outlet) - I just had to wire the camera to the reversing lamp wiring to get 1) power; and 2) a signal at the right time.

    Worked perfectly.

I already did this a while ago with both my Gen 3`s lol, Here is what i did, i dont got a gen 4 so i dont know if things r the same there, but here u can see what i did to my gen 3`s atleast.
I was forced to buy a second camera since i got parking assist, like... the rear camera goes thru the parking assist unit. and no matter what u do the rear camera always got first priority for the navigation. but yea... this is what i did. Maybe u can use it as guidelines or some for ur gen 4
