I first looked at the One- but No Cruise Control- I MUST have that with all the road miles I will rack up.
Plus they are thin on the ground.

This Eco at Eddy's is the ONLY one I could find within 500 miles.

Yeah you’re in tough country for fuel efficient vehicles :(.

I remember working in Wichita and parking next to lifted pickups that were very rarely taken off road. They always looked down on me, until they heard the fuel economy:).

Ended up converting some of them to more fuel efficient rides (mostly Ford Focus but some others into Chevy Malibu’s) ;).

Out here there are 5 dealers within 20 miles and the Eco is prevalent along with the Prime. I pass k e dealer everyday that has 4 sitting right along the freeway and has for 3 months now.

If our 2010 was in worse shape I would seriously consider a Prius one just based on price alone :). I never use cruise and do 95% of my travel on the freeway.

I just need to get from point A to point B(y).

Mendel- Thank you so much for posting this link.

I just watched a couple and will watch the others. That will give me a profound understanding of my new Prius...

If you're doing highway driving, the Eco won't save as much vs. a non Eco (but it is the cheapest way to get into a Li-Ion Prius).

The numbers for the Eco are 58/53/56 city/hwy/combined while the non-Eco models are rated at 54/50/52 city/hwy/combined.

The 2017 Eco gets TSS-P standard and loses the tonneau cover. Otherwise, it's the same as the tables that @Mendel Leisk linked to.

Rain-sensing wipers is only on the Four/Four Touring.

56mpg vs. 52mpg combined (or 58/53/56 for Eco vs. 54/50/52 for the others)

I meant to say automatic headlights.

The OP states they want Li-Ion battery. Remember that before Gen 4 all Prius had NIMH batteries except for the low volume plugin model. The NiMH is a proven battery design backed by extensive history.

Could you post the names of some of those Dealers & locations there that have an abundance of Prius's in stock?

They are thin on the ground here- maybe the dealers there would be motivated to move units before sale ends- maybe I could save some $$$ - even with paying the shipping.

Thanx for all your help & info . . .

Yeah I now know that the LiON are a newer tech - but I think I want to go with the newer. My experience with small batteries has convinced me that LiON are superior (as long as they don't blow up...lol)

Also since the Prius is such a Tech Powerhouse (pun intended...lol) I always will go with the newest Technology. I also have a good understanding on how you should treat LiON batteries to maximize their life ...assuming those traits are the same in these larger batteries.

I’m giving you a short list but feel free to perform your own search in the Bay Area of California (use google maps and search toyota dealers and you’ll see how many there are):

    Momentum Toyota of Fairfield:
    27 Primes and no 2 Eco’s

    Toyota Vallejo:
    19 Primes and no 2 Eco’s

    Toyota Vacaville:
    6 Primes and 3 Eco’s

    Hanlees Toyota in Davis:
    20 Primes and 1 Eco

    Concord Toyota:
    34 Primes and 1 Eco

    Walnut Creek Toyota:
    27 Primes and 1 Eco

    Antioch Toyota:
    12 Primes and no Eco’s

So while the Eco isn’t as available as the Prime or other models, there still are some around;).

Reminder: these dealers are within a 30 minute drive of my house, and I could expand my search if I was looking for something specific :).

Feel free to search and explore, then call and see what they say;).

I’m sure they won’t mind trying to sell a car this time of year(y).

Speaking of local dealers, I was at one of the ones I listed above the other day picking up supplies and ran across this:

    I thought of you:).

Maybe you’ll make a New Years resolution and get swayed to Toyota’s luxury line:whistle:.

I drove 150 miles to get mine. The salesman still drives his Gen 1 Prius.

I hate to spoil your fun, but Gen 4 Prius has its own electronic methods of protecting the HV battery and will never allow it to be overcharged above 80% or discharged below ~25%. So what I'm saying is you will not need to personally manage the hybrid battery the same as you would with regular rechargeable ones. BTW, delighted you got yourself an even better deal than you thought possible. All you gotta do now is enjoy all that economical driving. Oh, one last thing. Drive it as you would a regular automatic car, otherwise you won't get relaxed on longer journeys.

    Happy new year!
