I noticed this interesting change taking effect on January 1 in Ontario Canada.

Perhaps that is why Prime will be available there soon.

From Ontario's minimum wage increase and other legal changes take effect Jan. 1

That's news to me. Cool. Ontario is Canada's most populated province (50% more than Quebec which has already adopted similar CARB standards). That'll put immense pressure (esp. since our country's car buying population is tiny compared to the States).

Am I interpreting that story incorrectly?
My Canadian to US translation is a little rusty. :D

Here is a more official source.

That's what I saw... at the bottom of the article... made in passing. lol. It's like they don't want anyone to notice it.

Ahh you added the new link.

Hmm it says carbon market. It doesn't explicitly mention the automotive sector but one can speculate that it may involve them.

Right now, QC is the only province to explicitly mention that vehicles will earn credits if they're ZEV.

Of course you're aware that Ontario has the most generous incentives for BEV/PHEV vehicles. (The Clarity gets the full $14,000 rebate while a Prime get around $7,000. This will severely hurt the Prime on arrival. The Clarity is larger, more luxurious, longer range and, after incentives, much cheaper than the Prime.)

Added one more link too. Mention of fuels, but not vehicles.
