Our UK registration (licence) plate nuts and bolts are plastic and the dealer also sticks the plate on with double sided trim tape.
I will have to have a look at the under panel fixings and apply some lube where necessary though. (y)

Things must have changed since you left, Will. I don't go to North Devon so much, but Cornwall and Devonshire do salt the major roads in winter for any forecast heavy frost nowadays. Minor roads are not a priority any longer, (cost)!

I moved to USA in 1983, so I daresay things have changed, although I remember hearing (…on good old Auntie Beeb (R4) (World Service)) a few years ago, during a particularly harsh winter back in Blighty, when the South West was hit with a particularly cold spell, and "…it was reported that Devon¹ County Council had to send out all five (5) :)eek::eek::eek:) of their road-sanders as the snow was so bad!"
¹ Devon's area is 6,707 km2 (2,590 square miles) and its population is about 1.1 million (wiki)

Yup. That sounds like the Halden Hill just outside Exeter enter the A38 trunk road heads south west towards Plymouth and Bodmin. I'm sure they said they were prepared beforehand but once the traffic has blocked one of the three lanes in the rush hour the doing and sliding soon named the other two. I believe it was gridlocked with no rescue for~12 hours. Fortunately no fatalities but a fair amount of yellow snow!

    Update 1-2-18

At the end of the day, and after speaking directly with the service manager...they agreed with me. They absolutely should not have tried to force off the caps, any of them.

I received a full reimbursement for the bill today in the mail.

Thank you all for the feedback, and by that I mean those who prodded me to question the transaction.

For those that didn't see it my way, two wrongs didn't make the dealership right. ;)

    I will, absolutely.

That said, I got my 2016 detailed today (winter in MN) and I am LOVING this shop. They did a full, top/bottom detail and it looks amazing.

I do want to use them going forward (**** the delaerships) but I want to be sure they know the details. Obviously synthetic....but there has been a concern about the dumping of 3-4 quarts of oil in lazily.

    What have I done...

Good classic, btw. Saw it at the Patricia Theatre (Powell River) when it was released.

We picked up the DVD at an impromptu "garage sale", more of a lemonade stand scenario. They were asking 25 cents, I think I gave a dollar (Canadian loonie), seemed sacrilege to pay less for such a classic.

I didn't read every post in this thread but I bought a set of American Racing Wheels from Tire Rack and have them sitting in my garage and was thinking about what TPMS sensors to buy. I decided on the AUTEL MX sensors because they are programmable. There is an option for either metal or rubber valve stems and they can be changed for cheap. I emailed Tire Rack and asked what valve stems I should put in my new wheels and he said if you were going to run them year round to use the rubber ones.

    Autel

    Autel MaxiTPMS

I intend to clone my original TPMS sensors and install the new sensors on my new wheel for winter and summer tires. With two wheels having the same number I can just change them, at least that is my plan.

I was going to buy the programmer for tpms when I got some new wheels, my jobber offered to match the raw tpms to the current wheel tpms, so I saved the money, but will see in the future, luckily, things are getting universal
