They latest official Toyota word we had was in post 22 IIRC. It affected cars made before March 2016.

Second hand information in post 26 says Toyota does not plan to fix this.

I will check that with him next time. He never mentioned steering wheel, just via radio settings and yes, models dec 15-march16 didnt have that but apparently they changed that, question is - where is this setting placed?

Hidden in the manual it states it is in the Settings menu of the MID (the small display beside the speedometer).

EDIT: If you had read the thread before posting, your initial questions about whether the units could be changed were already answered. IT is possible this answer is there too.

Why did you post in an old thread without reading it beforehand?

    ???

my post is about different things, about either change mph/kph units via the radio setting as my friend do or in the steering wheel as bhtooefr mentioned.

    NOT in the menu.

Then why post off-topic in a thread instead of starting a new one?

then why put new topic instead of continuing this one ?

perhaps with some new approach thus we could help others (change via radio or steering wheel) - reffering only to models after march 2016.

I do not understand how that could be useful after Toyota in this thread officially said it could not be changed.

    man! :)
i dont know but here friend of mine, in Poland, in Europe, is bringing priuses from US to his place.
And apprently he does ok because he can do it and also AS bhtooefr MENTIONED earlier it can be changed.

Please, keep in mind that we talking about models from March 2016 onwards not earlier ONES.
So it is worth checking it more deeply and it can be done here or in the new thread that i dont give a f*%k :) Just thought i might help with this view

If you're talking about the head unit, you probably want to start a new thread. This thread is about the speedometer issue.

In the radio, it's under Settings, Navigation Settings (or something similar)

A whole lot of different laws for different countries for driving the Prius. It's shell of problem.

My US Prius 3 was built around March 15, 2016 and absolutely cannot be changed from MPH to km/h. I posted a picture showing where the setting would be located on my car, if it existed.

It's entirely possible that US Prii built later in March 2016 are able to be changed to km/h, but I don't know the specific date.

Now if only there were some benign Toyota Authority monitoring our trials and tribulations. Wait a minute, want the once just such an entity? @Prius Team

Sorry. The 129 posts that followed it were erase from my RAM. Is he/she not allowed to repost to a thread then?

I haven’t read all 8 pages of this thread, but here is some information.

You do not have to be able to display mph for temporary importation of a vehicle into Canada. Only if it is permanently imported.

To convert from kph to mph is pretty simple on the fly. Drop the last digit and multiply by 6 will get you close enough for your purposes. For example. 100kmh —> 10 —> X6 = 60 mph. 50kph —> 5 —> X6 = 30mph.

I’m old enough to remember when Canada switched from imperial to metric and this formula has never failed me.

Also. The police here are pretty forgiving about speed. Almost always they will allow you 10kph over the limit without batting an eye. In Vancouver the police will allow you 19. 20kph over the limit will get you a ticket.

I can recall when I was car commuting for a while, in the early eighties: I was half-convinced there was something wrong with my speedometer, the way everyone was tearing by. I still take it easy, and leave a generous following distance, it's easier on the nerves.

True, I remember that too, but:

    1. All posted speed limits are in km/h only.
    2. We have enough problems getting Americans do do math when they concentrate solely on that. Do you really want them to do math while trying to drive?

Not sure about ticketing, but quite often here, the new cruising speed appears to be 10 mph over the limit.

My 2 driving kids honestly consider the "limit" to be the lower threshold.
