Ok so they were poking around under the dash then and found it. Thought they somehow found it in techstream as I can’t see them under the da#h otherwise.

Why is the obd not where it should be? It’s really easy to find on this car. If the tech has to dig under the dash on this car to find it they have no experience at all on this car. Is this a Toyota dealer?

Is this a salvage car? Anyway get that part number and we can tell you what it is and may help
    You figure it out.

Yes it's a Toyota dealer. They have been servicing the car for me on a service plan for the last 6 or 7 years! Here is a clearer photo IMG_20180108_143322.jpg

The transistor is not a transistor but a Schottky diode*. Usually used for e.g. polarity protection. The blue wire seems to feed e.g. the 12V, the yellow feeds whatever electronics are after this PCB (printed circuit board). It can handle 20A.

The relay (blue) can handle only 2A.

There is some 'intelligence' (the small 8-pin SMD device called "U1", please take a pic of that too), but all in all, it seems like it doesn't do that much. Probably just switch a 12V voltage, possibly just for a set time depending on some situation (e.g. something like "switch on wire X on for 1 minute when the wipers are used").

I didn't look further, but occasionally diodes are not used on the PLUS side, but on the GROUND side, so my assumptions above may be wrong. Measure before doing anything!

    * I only saw this because of the writing on it, I assumed it was a transistor or voltage regulator too.

Some kind of snubber circuit big field collapse going on there. Switching 2 circuits with the relay so there is probably 3 wires in the fuse box.

    They

    Are

    Idiots!

This thing has NOTHING to do with the HV pack or HSD system (although it may allow EV mode, that still does not count).

MY GOD, yet another Toyota STEALership!
