    hello,
Im just wondering when the hybrid battery normally says goodnight? ive seen on some other thread that the Gen 2 batteries feels sluggish at first, the engine sometimes takes a second to start and suddenly it just dies and the warning triangle starts flashing.
My Gen 3 has gone like... 350 000km (atleast thats why the odometer says, the dash has been replaced at some time so its fully possible the car has gone like 400 000km-500 000km), its been a taxi from like 2011 to 2014 then some idiots bought it in 2014, did stupid stuff to it and sold it to me in 2016 (ive luckily fixed what they screwed up myself or let the toyota dealership do it). But yea... the car has a changed out dashboard so its possible its gone further then what it says. Is it time to change the battery? The petrol engine sometimes feels sluggish when it starts up. like it takes a second before it starts up. My moms 2010 prius is not like that (hers have only gone 73 000km), it starts right away and it feels "quicker". My gas pedal is also feeling kinda sticky and the car doesnt react as fast as my moms, my moms react right away in power mode but mine kinda feels like its "revving up" before it goes if that makes sense. what do u guys think?
i still got hybrid battery warrenty until 2023 so it should be free to change it.

Hey! First wow, sounds like your prius has had a long interesting life.

It does sound like your battery performance is deteriorated, as is your engine from normal wear and tear over time and miles. Don't know how you have warranty till 2023, so that's great!

Nimh batteries loose capacity and performance over time and miles, so this is to be expected unfortunately

yea, we got hybrid warranty for like 10 yrs from the production date of the car, then its added on onemore year for every service u do at toyota.

And yea thats what i figured, ive been thinking about getting it replaced by toyota for months now but wanted to be sure it was the battery that makes some of the problems. Since i know the hybrid battery gives all the power to the engine and stuff.

Will they replace it under warranty based on your symptoms or do they need a trouble code? I suspect they need a trouble code, likely due to module imbalance, to replace the battery under warranty.

actually they dont need any codes from what i know, they just need to test drive the car and see if it match up to the symptoms of a bad hybrid battery, that was atleast how it was tested when we changed out the hybrid battery in my dads 2013 Auris touring sports.

And actually, i just got off the phone with the dealership, my car came out of a service and hybrid healthcheck with test charging and stuff april 2017, and they said in their data the battery is all fine. So its not needed for them to check on it if i dont feel more then i feel with the performance, they did say that i should check out changing out the gas pedal tho. Since they also marked it as "sticky" and stuff at the serivce note they have.

I did not want to assume that companies in other countries behave like US ones do.

Your prius feels sluggish because when rings slowly wear out, you will get more blow-by/loss of compression. Older cars with more miles on them always tend to feel weaker/slower. If I were to pull 5 brand new prius' off the assembly line and drag race/dyno them. You would see different hp/tq numbers. Your battery might still be ok while have a small amount of battery degradation.

I have 305k on the original battery. I had to race a 2500 duramax diesel truck, only because the two lanes were merging into one and was in fear of my life (jk) to have coal rolled on me. I beat him by two car lengths :LOL::LOL:. I saw his girlfriend/wife beating him upside his head from the shame of defeat.
