2007 Prius key questions

I called the California DMV. The man I spoke with was very nice but they can't fix the mistake until I get the official title for the car. So for now all I can do is wait and cross my fingers.

When they misspelled the name of my street, the resulting name is a street that does not exist. At least not in my city. The DMV actually mailed my registration card to the dealer where I bought my car. I'm starting to think they did that because the address they have on file for me now doesn't exist. The dealer forwarded the registration to me, copying the wrong address on the card, and it reached me anyway. So I'm hopeful the same will happen with the title.

I have spoken to the dealer, but I did so before I realized the mailing address was wrong. I'll probably call him again on Monday, because if he gets the title I'd rather drive out there to pick it up than risk having it forwarded to me with the wrong address.

I hadn't thought of talking to my local postal carrier, but that's a great idea. Thanks!

 

It's a nice idea, but I called the DMV and they said there's nothing they can do until I get physical possession of the title for the car. Once I get the title, it will be a simple matter to correct it although I will be obligated to physically go to the DMV. I have an appointment, so I won't have to wait in line. But thanks for the suggestion

 

Oh. Sorry for misunderstanding. Since the address the DMV is using for me is one that doesn't exist, I'd rather not try that. But thanks anyway.
