Looks like a great upgrade from my BMW i3-REx.

    Hey I love it.
I had the great fortune of being able to visit London once. And loved the London Cabs.

This is the best of everything to me.

I love that we've now reached a place and time when the running fuel engine of a vehicle can be called "The Range Extender".
I hope these are "future proof". Seems like a fantastic vehicle.

Is that what they are calling the Leaf now?

I didn't understand that. So "Range Extender" is a compact engine of some sort, doesn't drive the wheels, just charges?

That's my understanding. There's no "HSD", the vehicle runs full electric, then if needed/wanted a ICE will power the electric components to keep it going. But there is no direct engine to wheels connection. The engine powers the existing electric components.

I could be wrong....I'm getting this from just watching this video once.

That's pretty much it in a nutshell, you can also put the battery on hold for long distances and run the ICE to keep it going 'til you reach the city and then use the battery again.
