    Hello.

I have a 2010 Prius trim 5 w/ 148K miles on. My horn on steering wheel was working fine until it stopped a month ago. My panic alarm is still working solid. The horn is not working when I rotate the steering wheel nor straight. I have read about the spiral cord could be the problem. What's the workaround for this issue? Is this covered by Toyota warranty?

not at your mileage. new spiral cord is the only fix. unless you want to wire a button on the dash.

Has this car ever been in an accident? Flooded?

I believe Toyota Prius warranty is up to 10yrs and/or 150K miles; which comes first.

Never ever. Clean title. I owned it since last Nov and the horn stopped working on early Jan.

A clean title does not mean its never been in an accident or a flood. Just means it was never reported.

So you've owned this car for less than 3 months?

not on the spiral cord, just the battery. tun it by the dealer for giggles though.

Almost three months by Feb 14. Yes, you are right about the reporting and the car is in great shape in/out though with no accidents. Runs a complete inspection when I bought it.

Do you mean the hybrid or 12v battery? If for the hybrid, Toyota have done changes on Parts 1&3 (attached) on last October under the warranty with the previous owner IMG_20180210_184252-01.jpeg

hybrid gets 10/150, 12v gets pro rated for a few years, depending on the year of the car. toyota has changed it at least once.
the inverter work in your link is a recall for defective design which was allowing too much juice to flow. the new transistor cuts the power consumption, slightly reducing mpg's.

Maybe you can try replacing the fuse first, maybe the contact is not good. You can try checking the wiring in the steering wheel too

Thank you guys for your replies. I got crazy and knocked hard to every side on steering wheel and I can confirm the horn now is working. Strange but true!

    Hi MM.87,

Is your horn still work? My horn goes in and out. When I knocked on the steering pad, it will work for a while. Try to solve this.

I changed the spiral cord. Everything remains the same.
