I have a unique situation. I was looking at a 2007 Prius with 155K miles, hybrid battery was replaced at 119K miles and the abs actuator was also. I understand those are two of the most expensive items to replace but I don't feel the seller's maintenance should be passed on to me. I called Toyota as the vehicle had been serviced there and the gentleman I spoke to said he would talk to one of their experienced staff members there on if he would pay $5500 for the vehicle since I thought it was overpriced. He called me back and said that it was way overpriced in his opinion but that they coincidentally were getting a 2010 Prius with 129K in immaculate condition (package 3) and he would sell it to me for $5500 as he was planning on having his wholesale guy take it. I looked up the values and this seems like a pretty good deal especially considering that cars seem overpriced here according to my research. My first thought was definitely "What a coincidence!" and wondering what this guys ulterior motive is. Is the 2007 way overpriced like he said or does he just want to sell me this 2010? Obviously the 2010 does sound like the better deal but it also does have the original battery. They get it in tomorrow and I am going to look at it. Anything I should check or ask? I really, really hate dealing with dealers. Does this sound like a good deal?

3 years newer, more powerful engine, less mileage. Why not?

You'll probably need to do some maintenance but what car doesn't need a little work when you buy it?

no easy way that i can think of. there are several major threads here on 2010 egr and intake manifold cleaning.
some people have problems and some don't, but no one can seem to find causation commonality.
the problem buying used is the unknown.
