Is this list of stuff to do good for 100k maintenance?

    I have a 2013 Three coming up on 100k soon, probably within the next few months. I’ve been compiling a list of stuff to do so when I call around to get quotes I have a list to do instead of just asking for ‘the 100k service’. I’ve checked the maintenance schedule and looked around online and this is what I have on my list:

    - Oil change
    - Tire rotation
    - Change transaxle fluid
    - Change brake fluid
    - Check brakes
    - Replace cabin air filter

    I’m trying to keep this as cost effective as possible, and when I hit 90k I didn’t really have money so I only did an oil change. I bought the car at 86k so this will be my first major service. I was originally going to put spark plugs on it but I figured those could wait until 120k. The only other major work I’ve had done was have the IPM module replaced under warranty when it crapped out.

    Just hit 100k on my 2012 Three last week. Performed the following services...
    • Tire Rotation
    • Engine Oil & Filter Change
    • Transmission Fluid Change
    • Engine Coolant Change
    • Inverter Coolant Change
    • New Spark Plugs (SC16HR11)
    • New PCV Valve
    • EGR Pipe, Valve & Cooler Cleaning
    • Throttle Body & MAF Cleaning
    • Intake Manifold Cleaning
    • Ruien Oil Catch Can Install
    • New Windshield Wipers
    Skipped the engine and cabin filters as I recently changed those. I will be doing brake fluid and HV battery fan cleaning as well when I get the chance. You can put off the spark plugs and coolant til 120k, but I highly recommend getting the EGR circuit and intake manifold cleaned asap to prevent any engine knocking and head gasket leaks. Also recommend lubing the caliper slide pins when you inspect the brakes.

    This is what Toyota USA says:

    So taking your list:

    The two items not on Toyota USA schedule: Transaxle fluid change is fine, especially if it's never been done. Ditto for brake fluid change.

    Toyota only calls for "visual" brake check at 100K, but your call, especially if it's been neglected. Proceed with caution if DIY'ing, especially with the rears. More info if needed.

    Replace cabin filter only if needed.

    Missing from your list, per the two snapshots above: engine coolant change.

    If you're DIY'ing the coolant or brake fluid change, definitely watch @NutzAboutBolts videos, and if you want I could post some Repair Manual excerpts, the brake fluid, and brake inspection in particular.

    I'd concur re spark plugs at 120K, that's what the schedule says. For all of this, it's miles or months, I'm assuming miles governs.

    Ah you brave souls!!! I quit doing all that religious maintenance stuff when I gave up Alfaholicism!! My philosophy with all these new EXTREMELY complex modern cars: drive.'em 100k miles, then buy a new one. If you can swing the budget my friend, you'll be well rewarded and very happy!! The Alfas, at least in 1969, were of a different era, and simple to work on, and a joy to drive, and YES some of the MOST reliable cars I've ever owned, with over 800,000 combined miles of fun!! My Prime Advanced is a luxurious, eccentric-looking, very comfortable and fun to drive car, which is extremely reliable, but at 100k, it's going on the selling block; it's not a 1969 Alfa Romeo (2200 Lbs!!)

    Cool, so I’ll go ahead and add change engine coolant to the list and take off the cabin filter. I’m not handy at all and don’t trust myself doing this stuff or else I’d try DIY, unfortunately.

    Yeah what is that ‘check installation of floor mat’ BS anyway? That’s why I only use the maintenance guide as a reference and not the end-all of figuring out what I need to get done at 100k. It seems fluffed up.

    it started when the floor mats didn't have locks, and someone piled up so many floor mats, they bunched up under the (too long) accelerator pedal in a loaner lexus and locked it down, causing a horrific crash that ended up costing toyota 18 billion dollars.

    Good luck too, with "tighten nuts and bolts on chassis and body". There's nothing I can see in the Repair Manual, any objective/specific maintenance section, outlining what "nuts and bolts", or how to test and/or retorque them. Pure BS.
