So I recently inherited a 2006 Prius. It has about a hundred thousand miles on it, I'm very good condition on the exterior and interior, but it hasn't been driven in at least three years.

What would I be looking at to get it up and running? I can only assume there are extra bits (like the battery) that need replaced or tended to, on top of all the stuff any 'normal' car would need after sitting so long.

Is it even worth trying, or should I try to sell it to someone willing to put in the time and money? Is there a market, even? Or am I looking at scrap value? That would be very sad...

    welcome!

start by charging the 12v and see if she'll start. fob battery may be low, 12v may need to be replaced. you might need a prolong charger for the hybrid battery, the gas may be stale.

if you're not interested, but it on craigs list. best offer?

You would at a minimum need a new 12v battery and to charge and balance the hv battery BEFORE attempting to start it.

Then go from there. If you're in Los Angeles, I can give you some pointers

Here is the essential question: Do you want a car? Or do you want a project??

    As a Project:
    12 volt battery $220
Optima DS46B24R Optima battery direct fit replacement for Prius 2004 to 2015 , Prius V & Plug-in Prius with Instructions
4 new tires as the old ones have flat spotted $400
    Bridgestone Ecopia EP422 Plus (H- or V-Speed Rated) | 185/65R15
You may or may not need an HV Battery, budget $3500
    Oil Change $50
    Serpentine Belt $15
    amazon.com/Continental-Elite-4030340-Poly-V-Serpentine/dp/B000C30IJI

And this assumes rodents have not eaten any of your car...

everything is going to be dry rotted so all hoses will need to be replaced along with the tires and the gas in the tank is no good so you will have to remove it and drain out the old gas.all fluids need to be changed and the systems flushed..odds are if you do get it running the rings in the motor will be bad so it will smoke and burn a ton of oil...
12 years old and in good condition it might bring $3000 so you need to decide if its worth that much to get it running and safe again..
or sell it for 1200 or $1500 as is and let someone else deal with the money pit prius.
