Yeah my problem was quite different as higher octane and pouring snake oil in the tank never helped. That snake oil is not strong enough to clean up heavy carbon build up on pistons. I seen people put seafoam via the intake. I wouldn't dare do that, a great way to hydro-lock your engine.

At this point, you are better parting ways with all that money spent fixing it. You don't want to be fixing a money pit as its not worth fixing a car that is almost past its resale value.

I'd throw a set of used fuel injectors in it first.

Enlighten me. What are your thoughts behind doing this? Seems like a repair I may be able to preform myself, however not sure how I would let the tank empty when I can't even get the car to run.

My first mechanic suggested the fuel injectors might be going bad, but everyone here said the ping wouldn't be caused by failing fuel injectors. Just trying to learn.

I was only attempting a recap of the previous 5+ pages and where the thread currently stood for anyone passing though.

I didn't notice any mention of compression readings being taken or offered.

My prius fuel economy isn't good at 120K miles, so I would like to do this cleaning. By "intake" do you mean the throttle body/plate cleaning shown in the below video:

or the full intake manifold cleaning as shown in the below video:

    Thanks in advance.
