No but I have a lot of experience working on all kinds of engines over about 50 years......and maybe even more importantly, I have about 30 years of experience dealing with questionable "information" floating around the "cloud" along with it's associated self appointed experts.

IF.....you believe all the doom and gloom about this subject, which tends to indicate that EVERY TIME one of those gets an oil change it is overfilled (minus the few owners that do their own) AND that the slightest overfill will inevitably lead to catastrophic engine failure.......then there should be literally THOUSANDS of failed engines because of it; maybe even tens of thousands.

The simple fact that is NOT happening is pretty good evidence that the situation is not nearly as bad as some make it out to be.

With the “ignore” feature of Prius Chat I get to only experience it from one side ;).

    Not a bad option(y).

    I've seen the posts.
And I have paid attention to the details.
All the evidence says: It is NOT as big a problem as it is made out to be.......unless it is WAY overfilled for a LONG time.

And it is, after all, an opinion based on my interpretation of the available evidence.
Ignore it as you see fit.
    No "apology" will be offered.

I respect your experience and yet still make the point that it is generalist knowledge. The problem with a one-size-fits-all mentality is that it doesn't always.
So, now we get closer to the truth and it begins to make a bit of sense. You see yourself as a one man crusader to correct the inaccuracies of the "cloud". Got news for you buddy, you are pushing s#!t up hill with a shovel.
This is the type of exaggeration that is the problem. You are blinded by your biased quest and you read things that were never said. You would do well to actually stop for a moment and read and understand what people are actually saying. You might then actually comment less. No one said or is saying in this thread what you quoted above. What "people" say on the "cloud" is of no relevance whatsoever to this particular thread. Take your crusade somewhere else.
If that is so, then it does question your ability to interpret information. Reading your many posts over the short time since you decided we all needed schooling, says you could not be objective if you fell over it, as your bias blinds you.
Such a shame, because you owe a lot of people here an apology for your rude and condescending comments.

The Gen 2 forums are a place people come to offer and receive specialist advice on Generation 2 Prius. This is the reason the site is structured the way it is – into specific forums for specific generations. If you have neither specialist Gen 2 experience nor specialist Gen 2 knowledge and therefore cannot offer specialist Gen 2 advice, please do not post, unless you post a disclaimer that your information is generalist, or just your opinion. And please, do it with good manners and grace. If you can't do that, take your mask and cape and find another place to troll.

Now, Mendel, go get another tub of popcorn.

All I have at present is a beet smoothie (shudder), made by the missus. It's good for me though.

I might get the Whirley Popper fired up later. (y)

Uhh, here I go -- sticking my finger in the light socket to see what happens -- but

I can't really agree at all with this statement and I think that if dolj looked at it objectively, might come to the same conclusion

What, 99.8 percent of the people who post do not meet the criteria above, unless I am missing something (maybe my Seattle's Best Pike's Place Coffee has not done it's job this morning)>

Good point and fair call, Steve, that does set the bar too high.

I was trying to get across that people who own and/or work on their Gen 2 Prius are going to have better knowledge to offer than those that don't.

Second point was that is possible to participate without being arrogant, insulting, rude or condescending.

Happy to leave it at that.
