    It's called “The Bicho,” Spanish for small bug/insect, and is a small open source CAN bus hardware backdoor that can easily remain hidden.

    The Bicho supports multiple attack payloads and can be used against any vehicle that supports CAN, without limitations regarding manufacturer or model.

    Each payload is related to a command that can be delivered via SMS, this way it allows remote execution from any geographical location.

    I'm confused though: does this have massive potential for abuse and mayhem? To remotely disable a car? And it's being offered at that link? And there's sponsors including Google and Microsoft?

    I'm checking: it's not April 01 is it??

    I think it is a conference to make security professionals aware of issues.
    Unfortunately, I really doubt any automotive engineers will be there. :(

    Meaning of bicho varies among Hispanic countries. Quite rude in some of them. Use with caution.

    That's the translation provided by the authors, as posted by them on the conference store. I didn't use a machine translation.

    Despite 2 years of community college Spanish a few years ago, I stink at it, and the authors/presenters are Argentinians.

    Spanglish/Mexican Spanish is what is spoken in these parts.

    Looking at the Big Picture of where we're headed, it's not a new problem. My view is that from the days of arpanet the interwebs have been an exercise in entropy
