I would say that Honda Clarity does look "over done" to me.
Not sure when someone should of put the Sharpie away...but there are definitely is more than one line too many.
    But that's just my opinion.

I think right now is a tough time in automotive design.
For a long time, things seemed way too static, and everything looked boringly similar. In the 90's and early 2000's, you could barely tell the difference between any manufacturers competing models.
Now in 2018 I think there is a desire to really change, advance automotive styling. We may not have flying cars, but it seems automakers want to give us cars that at least LOOK futuristic.

So we are getting creases, lines, cut outs, front ends and back ends that look like Robby The Robot got run over.
Not sure I like the trend. But it is change. You are not going to mistake a 2018 Prius for a 2008 Prius.

In the 50's and 60's they made some automobiles inspired by air plane, and rocket design themes. Futuristic styling CAN work. Actually can be pretty great when it does work.
But when it fails? It just looks....wrong.

Maybe retrospectively in 30-50 years people will look back at this time period and think automobiles looked great.
The Era of the "Crease". Sometimes it's hard to appreciate something...right when it is happening.

I'm trying to get my head around the new COROLLA/AURIS - announced at Geneva yesterday - better than the disorganised CIVIC, but I reckon PRIUS looks more together:

    They get worse:

    upload_2018-3-7_13-10-18.png

    And the LEXUS UX
    upload_2018-3-7_13-11-6.png

    And HYUNDAI

How about some nice classic lines - pity it hasn't got a roof - or RADAR Cruise?

The good thing about new car design is you can't tell if they are wrec:ROFLMAO:ked or not with all the contorted body lines.

As far as cars go, it was William Gibson who called it "go faster folds", in The Peripheral.

    Both. Lexus is worse though.
I am glad they forgot that black grill on Gen 4 Prius though,

The Prime's ugly lower grille began the long slippery slope towards the Lexus, um, "style." That is the main reason I chose the magnetic grey color, since it de-emphasized the Lexus maw jaw thing to some degree. Black within very dark grey isn't as noticeable. We really need an Predator emoji or smiley instead of typing this every time.

My wife was appalled looking at the 2016 Corolla front. I think she was glad we got the Prius.

It turned me off of the white Prius Prime. Also the lack of 5th seat and smaller trunk than my Two Eco were huge turn offs.

Ouch, don't they have "spoiler" tags or something here so you have to click on something before you see it. Wow, that's an ugly car. It looks like someone crossed a Prius with a 1990's Buick, and I can't unsee it now.

Actually, having just got a 2018 Prius, it's grown on me and I now actually like it. They did some clever things with the design. Got the Sea green color and that's grown on me, too. (Both within about 24 hours, which was surprising.)

Time for Honda to perhaps look to the past for inspiration, it can't hurt apparently!!
