... it is a search engine, or a calculating engine, or an engine of war, or an engine of industry, or ... ?

Or is it just a motor?

I see myself battling the ICE crowd, they wish to think they are all the same, while I feel that knowing the differences between the Otto Cycle ICE and the Atkinson cycle ICE, is an important distinction. We each pick our battles, ideally politely and honestly.

Perhaps the OP was afraid we were talking about this?

I don’t think the op would survive in the military or any of its contractors.

If a single sentence is spoke without an acronym something is likely wrong.

To this day I don’t know what BDAR is though I worked on it for months

I see the OP (original poster) as requesting that people be patient, courteous and thoughtful in posts. Taking the time to write-out full sentences so there is no confusion through the use of various short-cuts that could be misunderstood or misinterpreted.

Always a good thing to think about how others will read your post. Good for us all to keep in mind.

Now making such a request by calling the contributors to this forum elitist is not what I would call polite.
Asking for patience but then obviously not taking the time to read the very few posts it would take to comprehend many of the terms used here or just ask or do a simple search for a glossary is also not a stellar example of practicing what you preach.

All of the information here is the result of people caring enough to share and learn together. I would think a thank-you would be more appropriate than a complaint about how difficult it was for you to benefit.

More appreciation, less complaining...Life will be better for everyone.

The last paper Shop Manual I got was for an 06 Civic Hybrid. It was rife with acronyms; it seems there is a compulsion to convert what could be a simple one-word description into three, then convert to acronym. I commonly found passages unreadable.

I was happy to be called an elitist. First time someone called me something above the level of scum.

I work for a government agency that shall remain nameless. When I, a piece of scum from the private sector, suggested that the production of documents follow common protocols of spelling out acronyms the first time in a document, I was looked at with disdain and suspicion. Until I pointed out how a list I complied of common acronyms in the agency that included many duplicates raised the level of uncertainty of meaning. There was a big change after that. Now everyone tries to guess what alternate meanings could be ascribed to their documents.

BTW (cough), this is a huge issue in the medical sector. There are lots of duplicate abbreviations/acronyms in medicine (whether exactly the same, or look the same) that can cause real harm. YMMV IMHO w/ICEs & MGs.

Well the "Original Poster" (OP) was not kindly asking for patience & courtesy but was being hypocritical and displayed the opposite of the patience & courtesy they desire.

Just look at the thread title.
How are we supposed to interpret "WTH"? The most common interpretation is very rude!
And what is "R"? It is neither an acronym nor an English word. It makes the OP appear uneducated.

It also appears they do not know the difference between an odometer and a speedometer. It is well known that speedometers tend to show speeds higher than actual to avoid he chance they read lower than the actual speed and trigger government action. Odometers, as far as I know, are supposed to be accurate. The mpg reading in the Prius are also known to be usually a little higher than reality.

I am not sure which is worse.
Trying to read Pirate-Speak or trying to read Maine-pronounced speech.;)

    I always thought R was just a letter between Q & S.

The number one hit is Black Dog Animal Rescue, but that is not very military.

The second hit is more promising, battle damage assessment and repair (BDAR). And you see the author spell it out and then used the acronym, good form. It sound like repairs not to get back to fighting trim, but just to limp off the battle field. I see many cars repaired to this standard.

The third hit is less likely again: Bagnell Dam Association of REALTORS. While many wars are fought over who will own what, they rarely involve realtors in the military decisions. (other groups of realtors also exist)

That will get you to page 3 of google search where salmonella pops up and I quit reading. (reading about medical issues just leads to symptoms)

This troll only has 2 posts. Both are complaining about acronyms. Do not waste your time here.
We may not see them for another 3 years.
