It sure looks like a lot more work to install than the push-button shifter for the Gen 3.

How much practice did it take to get the install down to just under 28 minutes?

Looks like a solution looking for a problem. I have to ask, what's the problem with the current shifter?

They are looking for troubles. A passenger can mistakenly turn up the volume and shift your gear to reverse :D

And if the car crashes and it is discovered you replaced your perfectly working and Toyota designed shifter with that? What might your insurance company decide?

I like old school, never lost track of what gear I was in:

I'm sure they could make a comparable drive-by-wire version. The reverse-beep is a bandage, for a shifter that is dangerous.

I think the Prius was designed for old people. It is almost impossible to forget what gear you are in. lol

    I disagree..., from experience.

Off-topic but similar, in that it's an "inovative" design with negative consequences: I've also just about put the oil filter housing back on, sans new filter. Twice. If they could please design that thing so it just won't go on without a filter inside, that'd be nice. There's gotta be a way.

The gearshift in a Prius is nothing more than a switch anyway. There seems to be a trend of going to rotating knobs these days.

Who knows maybe Chrysler will make a comeback with the Push Button. :p
