…bearing in mind the original post in this thread, what brings you to that conclusion? IMNSHO such "gewgaws" and toys are simply that, and complicate things, and when they malfunction, then there is much wailing and gnashing of teeth! We are truly becoming a race which can only lift a spoon¹

My Auto wipers are still going fine - occasional sweep at night for no apparent reason, and a bit slow to react occasionally when it starts raining.

It's been on AUTO since I got the car.

Like all the other thingies we've got used to - don't have double de-clutching, a choke, ignition advance or non-cancelling indicators to worry about - and I don't miss them.

Just the auto door closing and selfbuckling seat beltto go for now. Then you'll be looking for the coffee dispenser and chilled drink decanter.

I had "passive restraint" on a 1985 VW Rabbit. The chest portion of the seat belt was attached to the door and no input was required to wear it. The dealer offered to turn the alarm off so that I didn't have to wear it, but I declined and got quite used to it.

LEXUS (and BMW - probably Merc, Bentley, Cadillac & Rolls too?) have auto door closing. This journalist wasn't quite so sure, and definitely not impressed with the boot open/close.

A friend had a Mk3 Zephyr in the early '60s - you could walk up to the boot and hit the button with your knees and it would spring open - but not closed again. That was back in the days when you didn't always bother to lock your car. My FIESTA sedan, you could click the "BOOT" button twice, and it would spring open ½ way.

Still, a chauffeur would be a nice touch. Automatic with the human touch.

Those are just power assisted soft-closing doors. They have been around for decades.

    What you're thinking is this:

Now you're talking - which PRIUS is that going to be optional on?

Further on - is the bad news:

LOL, but if you can afford to buy one in the first place is of no consequence, Mr Rockefeller!

Q: "Does this tiny Peel P50 make me look like a huge buffoon?"
A: "Mr. Clarkeson, you are a huge buffoon whatever you're sitting in!"

Ugh! I was so happy to get rid of the Accord that had that non-feature. It disincented me to wear the lap belt. That was my first and last Honda.

Traded it for a Camry V6 LE, which was replaced by a Gen 2. Once I started driving a Prius, I have never looked back.

Does looking at the backup camera count?

You are right. I almost never wore the "lap" portion of the restraint.

I use my mirrors and backup camera, but I still look over my shoulders. Ain't no idiot-proofing the roads of Texas.
