Only the rudeness and arrogance. I do feel for those he bullies, though.

Probably not China - just pretending so to hide their identity.

Dang it. I banned him but I didn't realise he had already posted. I've cleaned up the posts now.

Here we'd do well to appreciate Tideland Prius' work. Rest of your life is quite accommodating then eh? :)

Where is the pinch point? Could new members be sent through recaptcha? I don't even know if that would help. Maybe send new members to a sandbox where their first 3 posts could be assessed? How? Some low-level AI that detects low-level garbage?

I get it that PriusChat runs on $lim margin$. That I cause small damage by ad-blocking. Tell us how we can all help, because we do like your work. Is there a model by which the site is free to read, but with a 'pay to post' function?

Si Senor, but I say pay once to post however many.

Picking on bisco is my exclusive. Find somebody else, dolj.

On the other forum that had the spammers they already used a captcha to register. It appears they paid people to register the new accounts and then used them to spam. Posting delays only limited the spam slightly.

You realize that Danny would likely need to be contacted for any changes like this?

Yes. I also realize that him reading this thread is not a poor assumption. He tossed me a 'like' here a page or two ago.

    I doubt I deserved it.

Trouble with seeing these posts as spam is that they don't even attempt to offer any product for purchase. They just blerf.

A technical term, I admit. It may be for nothing to consider that there is a purpose. Personally guess that this is practicing in a minor website to improve skills towards somewhere else.

do not know, I just saw a 'like' under alerts flag, maybe from TidelandP

    Hallucinations are always viable explanations.

Y'all are big network and website brains; figure out how to separate humans from garbage here and sell it to the big dogs for $$$

    $$$$, possibly

We did not write the forum software though and need to work within that framework in addition to owner preference.

A comment regarding ad-blocking: I started using an ad-blocker with my browser specifically because of PriusChat, maybe 3 years back. The site would not run without an ad-blocker. This might have been resolved now, but once bitten...

I did that a while back when there were a lot of database issues, etc. before the forum upgrade last year when things stabilized. I found that with ad blocking enabled some YouTube & Amazon links in posting would not display, so I removed the ad blocking.

Things usually load OK, but lately there have been a couple of ads that appear to be malicious, phishing for Internet credentials. I have been working with the team here to identify & block them from the site.

As I posted a month or so ago???

I accidentally signed-in with MS Edge and the flashing, dancing scrolling ads were so bad that if I had to "consume" the site in that manner, I would not return unless I had a serious problem with the Prius and had no other options.

For me, anyway, without whatever adblocking Firefox uses, this site is unusable.

I do miss the NAPA auto part coupons I used to get from here some many years ago.
