Don't charge your 12V quite yet. Read the voltage across your jumping points without having car in READY. Then, turn on your headlights and see what the voltage across the jump points is again. If your resting voltage is less than 12.5 your battery is low on charge. If it dips below 11.8 with just the headlights as a load you are looking at a very weak 12V battery.

If it is an old 12V battery it may be time for a new one.

    Paul.

Got it. Multiple rapid posts and I hadn't seen the ones regarding the 12V status. 12.35V is still not charged fully. Do the load test with the headlights. Not in Ready since that will allow the HV system to implement the 12V charging mode which should put your 12V readings in the lower 14+ volt range.

Might just need a full charge as you suggest but also do the simple load test as well to make sure this 12V battery is not a dud.

not sure, if you can't figure it out, contact the seller or mfg. some have been known to sit on the shelf too long.

I would have to say no. That's a jump starter and compressor, not a charger.

Now let's get this thread back on track.
You are probably remembering the Consumption Screen data, but in this video you're on the Energy Monitor screen. It looks perfectly normal. Pretty good, in fact.
    Nope.
There is a little relearning that will be going on with the fuel map, IF you disconnected the 12 V battery during your rebuild. BUT, that is not what issuing on here. If you are wondering why you see 99.9 MPG when you are slowing, it is that the car in one of the warm up stages and has not reached stage 4. It finally does this when are in the parking lot at the end of the video. If you reran this run again after that you would see more 00.0 MPG (or --.- MPG 2007 on) then.

Overall, it looks like your rebuild has breathed new life into the car, for now.

avg 46-47mpg in 90 miles, same as when I first got it 10 months ago. 12v after a short drive today was at 12.2 with the ignition pressed twice. turned healidhgs on, dropped to 11.8. turned them off, only went back up to 12. guess I should give it a proper charge. can I get away with this cheapo harbor freight charger at 2 amps or do I need an agm-specific charger 2/6 Amp, 6/12V Manual Charger

IMO, no. The high setting is too high for the OEM and the low setting is too low to charge in any reasonable time, but given enough time, it will charge it. So, you waste half your money buying a feature you won't use.

Yes, you need a AGM setting, as an AGM battery requires a higher charging voltage to raise the battery's potential to the higher voltage of which the AGM battery is capable.

There are suitable Harbor Freight chargers, branded HF IIRC, that you can get in the same price bracket of around $50. I remember recently someone here on PC who managed to get a good charger $50 marked down to $39.95 on sale, so bargains can be had. Get the right tool for the job, and make life easy for yourself.
