Long story short my prius is dead. I have the P Lock problem and I've already tried everything but I can't imagine parting with the car so now I'm wondering if there's a way around the P Lock. My idea is making a frankenstein prius. I'd like to make it full electric but not using the original drive, reverse or parking. I've seen some old cars that are manual transmission converted into full electric, that's what I'm thinking, gutting everything prius and putting in a different transmission and using an ev motor like this one. Does anyone have any ideas on how to eliminate the drive and parking of the prius & using some other form of Park and Drive?

Someone else posted a similar idea, and you can see my response there, along with some other good suggestions:

Prius complete power plant changeout: Going Full Plugin-EV! | PriusChat

Designing, building, testing, and debugging a completely new powertrain makes solving any problem on an existing, series-production car, for which service parts and documentation are readily available, look cheap and easy by comparison.

    The way I see it:

Option 1: Replace ICE/transaxle with good, used unit. Replace battery with new Toyota pack. Drive car for many more years/miles.
Option 2: Recycle the Prius and buy a used (limited range) LEAF for about the same amount of money as option 1.

I have the P Lock problem, replacing the engine/transaxle will solve that problem? Also replace the hybrid battery pack???
