Just bought (and more importantly, paid off!) a new (to me) 09 Prius. It rides great, with no major problems and only a few cosmetic ones. It was at just under 250k miles when I got it, and it rolled over when I had it, so needing to know what all work I should have done as a "service", as the manual doesn't go past 150k. I don't know what, if any, service has been done recently (except apparently brakes, as they look "brand new" according to mechanic), so assuming none. Obviously, oil change (assuming because of high mileage, a full synthetic) but don't know what else needs to be done, as all I've ever driven was ICE engines. FYI, I drive a LOT, so put that into your considerations.

Well it is an ice engine.

Lots of miles I guess you mean it’s now 300000 miles. 2 things . One is if it’s the original engine it eats oil how much is for you to figure out. I would check the oil level every other day in the am before you start the car.
If you run a high mileage car out of oil you will be buying a new motor.

Two is the hybrid battery. Keep an eye on that. Very expensive part. If it’s the original battery start thinking
About a replacement. Thousands of posts about it on this site.

    congrats and welcome!

plug the vin into the toyota owners website, and see what comes up for service.
might want to do a tranny fluid change, check your filters and etc. until then.

Congratulations! I also have a 2009 Gen II, and I LOVE it! One of the things I've done as a preventative maintenance measure is to invest in a Hybrid Automotive Prolong Grid-charging System. There are many threads about Prolong Systems here on PriusChat, and PC is full of knowledgeable folk only too willing to share their experience and expertise with like-minded Prius Owners! "search" can be your best friend, but beware! PriusChat can be addictive!
BTW we like to see lots of pictures, so get snapping! ;)

Congratulations on your purchase. I assume that the odometer is now slightly over 250K miles.

If you don't see much service has been performed on your vehicle VIN per the Toyota owner's website, I suggest that you look at the required maintenance per the service booklet at 100K miles and 120K miles, and prepare your list from that. Add transaxle ATF fluid drain/replace to the list. The front struts and rear shocks may be marginal and should be critically evaluated for replacement.

Look at the brake calipers to see how thick the front pads are (11 mm is the thickness of new pads) and look at the brake fluid reservoir to see how clear the fluid is. If it is getting dark, that shows you the fluid is relatively old.

Keep an eye on the engine oil level so that you can establish the consumption rate. Do not allow the oil level to drop below the lower dimple on the dipstick, or exceed the top dimple. There is ~1.6 US quart difference between the two dimples.

Eh, I meant full ICE only cars. No, it's not 300k, it just rolled over 250k (It's 250,648 as of now). I will make a note of oil levels, I was not aware they "ate" oil. As for battery, I'm not sure if it is original or not, but I'll look into it.

Thanks for the advice, I'll look into it!

I've found a maintenance schedule thing from here that goes up to 300k, so I'll use that. Had it looked over, was told it was in pretty good condition. Front brakes, I was told by 2 different mechanics, look brand new and were probably replaced just before I bought it. Rear brakes are another story, supposedly drums and shoes need replacing.
