So this is the comment I posted which is pending review:

We have two plugin hybrids: 2017 Prius Prime Plus (lowest trim), and; 2014 BMW i3-REx. Both have dynamic cruise control and automatic collision braking which automates dealing with traffic. Better to piss off than be pissed in traffic.

The Prius Prime is our cross country car. Using dynamic cruise control, we follow highballing trucks with enough space to steer around road debris while following traffic pass the truck. Starting with a full charge, a 120 mile trip returns 75-85 MPG. A full tank drives through expensive gas areas and returns 57 MPG. The radar cruise control provides extra safety in foggy conditions. Yet it handles 3-stop City errands on EV at half the cost of gas.

When temperatures are under 50F, the Prime control laws will protect the battery in some cases by running the engine. Depending on route and driving style this can reduce the MPG to mid-40s. However, these can easily be avoided or minimized.

The 168 hp, rear drive, BMW i3-REx is supreme in City driving handling 11-stop trips. If a charger is down or occupied, the REx keeps you going. Cross country, the i3-REx is like a motorcycle with refueling stops every hour and a quarter which my wife and her dogs appreciate. The same strategy of following highballing trucks works well and at 40 MPG, quite affordable.

No doubt folks have already suggested how to handle Jalopnik links. Don't worry, many of us have done the same. So this is mine:

I like his technical presentation style. If you don't have time to read the manual, this is a good substitute:

@MSantos and I have not always seen eye-to-eye but this interview is dead-on accurate. We are on the same page, at last.

I vaguely remember his name. Wasn't he a Honda hybrid guy, at least for a while ?

The latest generation Volt compared to Prime is more interesting:
Over 100 Km, the Volt consumed the same amount of petrol, but 3x the electricity.

    That sucks

You may be amused to know that teva means nature in Hebrew.

I did not know that. Kinda of a cool hidden meaning to their acronym.
