Looking to a) cover entry points with mesh, and b) figure out if Carista will allow the vent to stay shut when the car is off. Is the air intake underneath where the wipers are, as in previous gen Prii?

Sorry, I'm not smart enough to reply directly to your other message...
I removed the wipers and the plastic cover under them, then turned the cabin fan on high and noted where the air was being sucked in. I should've taken pictures while it was apart. Basically started with screening over that main intake on the passenger side, then began covering any other place under there where mice would have access, moving toward the driver's side. It took several pieces of 1/4" hardware cloth and a couple of tries before mice stopped coming in. I also did the engine air intake, which needed some disassembly before I could get at all the openings. Must not be any mice in Japan.

I really appreciate your info on the intakes!

How difficult was it to take the wipers off? Never tried it before.

And I can now report that there is indeed a setting in Carista to prevent the vent from opening after shutdown. I have no real way to verify that it works, outside of not hearing any weird noises. But so far, so good.

Also, just curious -- why the engine air intake? Would one of these critters potentially set up shop there?
