Shoot responded in the wrong thread. Anyone do the math for the 26mm hollow vs the 24mm solid trd? That's the math for the 20mm hollow that comes stock with the car.

bottom line: ANY of those bars is a huge improvement over the piece of conduit which Toyota installed...

My math could be totally wrong, please correct as needed.

Here is the math for the solid 24mm bar.

    24^4 = a stiffness factor of 331776

Without knowing the wall thickness of the hollow bar it would be hard to calculate which is better (won't go into cost, material, weight, quality or desired handling effect), but we will assume a total wall thickness of 3, 4, 5 and 6mm in the examples below.

    ~

Here is the math for a hollow 26mm with a total wall thickness of 3mm.

    26^4 = a stiffness factor of 456976
-minus the 23mm area that isn't solid
    23^4 = a stiffness factor of 279841
    =equals
    a stiffness factor of 177135

    ~

Here is the math for a hollow 26mm with a total wall thickness of 4mm.

    26^4 = a stiffness factor of 456976
    - minus the 22mm area that isn't solid
    22^4 = a stiffness factor of 234256
    = equals
    a stiffness factor of 222720

    ~

Here is the math for a hollow 26mm with a total wall thickness of 5mm.

    26^4 = a stiffness factor of 456976
    - minus the 21mm area that isn't solid
    21^4 = a stiffness factor of 194481
    = equals
    a stiffness factor of 262495

    ~

Here is the math for a hollow 26mm with a total wall thickness of 6mm.

    26^4 = a stiffness factor of 456976
    - minus the 21mm area that isn't solid
    20^4 = a stiffness factor of 160000
    = equals
    a stiffness factor of 296976

I trust your math more than my knowledge of hollow bars. looks like the solid bar is superior. pull the trigger. you will like the result.

Done Deal... got the 24 for $120 shipped after the ebay 15% off coupon. My first one I had paid 170 to toyota for the original TRD. Overpaid but was worth it.
