Prius Prime - official prices paid thread

Well that would kill my idea in a hurry.

 

Here is our new Prius Prime - our 2013 Prius 5 is called Spike. We are considering "Buffy" for our Prime. You Buffy the Vampire Slayer fans know why; don't underestimate the beautiful one!

I shopped Gault Toyota in Endicott, New York while I was shopping for a deal on a Prius Prime. I spoke to a guy named David Patterson. He was willing to deal on the Prius and have it shipped without me coming to the dealership. Now that the rebate is $5,000, that would have been enough for me to have possibly bought from further up north!

I should have waited 10 more days to get extra $500 rebate But might risk not getting my preferred Blue color. So I guess I'm fine

Wow! Dealer professionalism seems to be all over the place in this country! A shame for you; you and this great car deserve better. I was in the Auto and RV sales business for over 23 years in Southern California, and if what you experienced had happened at any of the dealerships I worked for, somebody would have gotten fired or at least a very long lecture would have occurred. We frequently had sales meetings over customer satisfaction index, customer car preparation, how to present the car to the client, product info seminars, etc. My recent experience purchasing a Prime Advanced at Longo Toyota from Lizette Vega has reaffirmed this high standard for me.

Yup. The last Prius prime I purchase snuck right under the timeline so I was able to get a 4.25k rebate plus the state rebate. Looks like Californians are stuck with the shady instate dealers

 

So the must purchase in state thing is new?

 

The state rebate is only $1,500 for CA. New purchase should still be qualified for federal rebate.

 

I think you're confused.
Toyota rebate 4.25k
Cali rebate 1.5k
Fed rebate 4.5k

They changed the rule sometime mid January. I literally lucked out by days and didn't know about the rule change prior to purchase. Just giving you gentlemen an FYI so you don't lose 1.5k that you were expecting.

 

They acted quickly when I pointed out the slice and replaced it immediately. I'm annoyed, though, that I've been asked to drive back in because something messed up on their end on a piece of paperwork. I asked them to send it, or if I could sign electronically. I need to go in on Saturday. Mistakes happen, but frankly I'm annoyed.

 

It's all about professionalism; yes it does exist in the car business (and in the legal profession!), but apparently there's a paucity of it where you are. Sad. Make sure you point this out on surveys; dealers must be held accountable.

I had an appliance die near the end of the month and I had to allocate some of my car fund to a new fridge and skipout on Aprils 4500 incentive. The dealer I've been talking to though, has put up the incentive as 5k now at least for the month of May. Did I just luck out?

Hello everyone - The incentives right now were good enough to tip the scales in my favor, so I made the purchase Tuesday and picked up my new car yesterday;

$700 Dealer Discount
$5000 Toyota May '18 Rebate
$1100 New York State Rebate
$4500 Federal Tax Credit

I also got a $2700 trade on a 2009 93k Yaris, so all said and done I'm pretty happy with the deal.

 

Anyone purchased a 2017 Prime Advanced in NJ in 2018? I'm thinking of buying it but would like to know the dealer markdown from MSRP you get. I got $1100 on my Premium back in Sept. 2017, I saw Lucashugh in this thread getting $2300+ on the Premium in Dec. 2017, but would like to know rough range on where I should start negotiating for the Advanced. I saw tip on this thread saying 10% off MSRP, so maybe I should start from $3500 off? Or should I try using the R.I. dealer's huge discount quote in this thread ($4288 off)? Thanks for any tip!
