Just a feel good post to those who think fuel prices are high where you live.

Fuel prices are reaching a 4 year high here and thought I'd share so some can feel better about the local fuel price.

Bear in mind, the per litre price includes a "road user tax" component of NZ$ 0.69 per litre that goes toward roading and transport projects. The govt will be adding a further 9 cents per litre in July. Needless to say we are overjoyed.

Here are the prices as at today.today:

RON EQ US AKI NZD price per litre
    1 91 81 NZ$ 2.199
    2 95 87 NZ$ 2.309
    3 98 93 NZ$ 2.369

    This table gives the details:

People in the US.....and maybe other places too......should read your post carefully and pay careful attention to the "equivalent price per US gallon" table.

I think the prices are similar in Europe too.

But then "we" complain about our prices.....which are really LOW in comparison.......and complain about the condition of the roads and fret because we can't seem to find the money to fix them. HOG WASH. The answer is out there......"we" just don't want to see it.

And you ain't seen nothing yet. World politics is about to cause a jump in oil prices again, due to speculation about what will happen next.
If there is a real crisis in a major oil producing country, we had better be checking the market for horses and roller skates.

And lastly, this discussion makes the Ford decision to stop producing "cars" in a couple of years look even more shaky.
I'm pretty sure that SUVs and pickups don't have a large market share in places with gas at $6 a gallon or more.

Hold on to your hybrids folks. They are looking better all the time.

Just what I was thinking after hearing last night's news bulletin.

Out of interest, what is the current pump price where y'all y'all live for 87 AKI /95 RON?

It was around $2.45 (US) just a few weeks ago but now seems to be trying to get to $2.75.
Wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't top $3.00 fairly soon.
    That is per US gallon.

Our "government" should have been slowly adding taxes over the past 3 decades like much of the rest of the world has been doing......and there would be no need for "fuel economy" regulations; the "free market" would take care of reducing consumption.

Fuel Price in North Texas aka DFW aka Dallas Fort Worth metro area $2.69 per gallon as of today Saturday May 12
5/12/18. In past 3-4 weeks the price of unleaded regular grade has been in range from $2.49 to $2.79 per gallon with premium
$2.89 and selected stations with that E85 lower priced

If you need or want higher gas price just call hurricane Harvey...…. or other natural disaster

No, the bottom fell out of that market quite some time ago. I think there are still a few cars using LPG, but not CNG.

Not sure what the driver for it falling off was. Maybe the natural gas reserves were not as large as first thought, or maybe the harvesters got a better price oversea that the local market couldn't/wouldn't match.
