Just did a trip across town, mostly highway with actual speed between 60-105km/h (38-65 mph). The 60km/h zones were near traffic-light-controlled intersections and there was one part with construction where traffic slowed to near 60km/h).

@Bill Norton , remember I briefly mentioned "Super Highway Mode" in that other thread about pulse & glide? This is the result of SHM. (Some call it Heretical Mode, especially Camry Hybrid owners)

Google said the trip would take 1hr 10 mins. I took approximately 1h and 15mins so I didn't lose that much time by driving fuel efficiently.

Trip details in metric (see photo).

    Trip details in imperial:

    Distance: 50 miles
    Consumption: 62mpg
    Avg speed: 39mph

Outside temperature ranged from 21-25°C on the OAT (69-77°F).

Climate control was set to 22.5°C/73°F with the A/C on. The car was initially parked outside in the full sun in 25°C/77°F temperature. I did use a Heatshield sunshade on the windshield. The Solar Panel Ventilation System was running. I did not use Remote A/C.

I was in ECO drive mode (which includes the climate control, for Gen 2/4 owners).

Note the battery is full so I didn't cheat by driving on EV for the last few km. The terrain is light rolling. The spike in the 15-20 minute bar graph is when I had to climb up a steep bridge over the river.

    Impressive ;).

You even used eco mode. I find our 9 year old 2010 anymore it is very lethargic .

I use normal mode exclusively now:(.

How many km’s on your 2010?

I’m about to hit the Canadian equivalent of 300 k km’s:).

Still runs like a fine watch(y).

Yeah normal mode fan here too. Maybe ECO helps with AC behaviour, but I couldn't abide it's gas pedal response, I'd say it's harder to modulate, such a large travel to get a reaction.

Right on (y) Hope it continues for the next 9 years. How many US miles total?

Thx for posting. I love these kinds of threads. I am a power mode fan, so I have to remember to put the vehicle in ECO when I'm running cruise control on the highway.

After running normal mode from Feb-Apr, ECO mode did feel lethargic. I was running it because of the A/C. It's warm enough that A/C is nice but I don't need it blasting it because it's not July so I found ECO mode helped reduced the fan speed (and side bonus, reduce electricity consumption).

    It's a baby at 152,000km (95,000 miles).

Yup same here. My interior is in really good condition for 9 years (or even 5 years for that matter lol). I bet no one would think it was 9 years old. I can still see the grain pattern on the steering wheel! (I've seen leather steering wheels that become shiny and smooth within 3 years)

It does help reduce electricity consumption. @HTMLSpinnr had a post somewhere where he found the max amp draw of the A/C compressor in ECO mode vs. normal mode on the Gen 3. I forget where it is now.

The pedal is lethargic compared to normal mode (was running normal mode in Feb-Apr b/c of the cooler temperatures). But I was on the highway and required fine pedal placement to hit that SHM (IG-14 I think on the scangauge) so that the engine can sit that rpm that gives me 3L/100km instant FE readouts.

Me too although the Prius Prime is tugging at my strings

95,000 miles. Still a baby. My commute is short so most of the mileage are highway miles (road trips)

I’ve been getting a similar itch:).

We just got our solar panels installed and seeing how much production of electricity there is, I can slot the prime in and not incur any additional electric charges;).

I’d be going for the Plus trim (not sure if they are know as the same thing north of the 49th parallel) as I just need something to get from point A to point B. In addition to the crazy rebates, the wife’s work also would give $3k back if we bought one:).

So very tempting indeed. But then again our 2010 owes us nothing and continues to rack the miles willingly without complaining or large parts bills;).

Saw a nice titanium glow Prime while picking dinner up yesterday which prompted the continued mental debate(y).
