Hey everyone! Picked up my Prime about a week and a half ago, put on about 180 miles so I'm still trying to figure everything out! Love it so far

    a couple of (silly?) questions

-I don't always charge my car. When I start it and press 'ev auto,' I sometimes get the message that there's not enough battery for that mode. But then when I start driving, the display shows power coming from the battery and it will alternate between that and the engine. Is it supposed to automatically toggle between the two even if ev auto isn't selected?

-My fuel bar is still 99% of the way full from when the dealership filled my tank. It's showing ~71mpg on the odo but when I toggle thru the 'trip' button, it says I have ~430 miles left in my tank. Does the former include EV miles? Or do I just not have enough miles yet for an accurate estimate?

    Thanks!

that is how a hybrid works. battery/engine/battery and engine. it won't let you select ev or ev auto without a wall charge, because those use more battery than you have available.
you could force charge it, if you want more ev for some reason.

If you don't have enough charge in traction battery, then the car automatically goes into HV mode. You are still driving with some portion of HV drive with battery when EV light is on. This is normal, and this is different from EV Auto mode. As far as I know EV Auto mode switches EV mode and HV mode automatically depending on the way you drive.

Range display is both EV and HV. If you have no charge for EV left, then it is on gas only range. I think.

EV Auto only works when you have EV range left.

In hybrid mode, you can also run in EV mode on the hybrid portion of the battery (That's how a Prius works).

Your car only has enough power for only partially using the e motor. Plug it in and youll be able to use ev auto

The Prime has a EV charge button, so no more forcing.
