I agree. My Prime was manufactured in Oct 2017–so it probably sat for about 4 months before I came along and made the purchase. You’re right—depreciation is not a meaningful variable for me. I’m telling you right now—I’m going to keep it until she literally dies! And I don’t think replacing the battery, in and of itself, qualifies as “dying.” If all that’s needed is a battery replacement and everything else is looking great, I will replace the battery and “Prime On.” If I have 175k on the odometer and the battery dies—I might roll the dice and replace the battery betting I’ll get another 175k. Spending $4k on a battery for 175k more miles—that would be worth it to me. Steady as she goes!

There aren’t many 2017 left, especially if you want to get one in popular colors. I just got the Advanced today in white pearl with 3,000 off from dealership discount. I went with the 500 cash and 0 APR for 72 months instead of 2k rebate.

Not bad but not the lowest. I got quoted this on a 17 Advanced by Balise Toyota in RI but they sold all their units while I was thinking about it. Is there a map of which regions get which incentives?

    YEAR 2017
    MAKE Toyota
    MODEL Prius Prime Advanced
    MSRP $34,577
    INVOICE $33,589
    DISCOUNT -$8,488
    BALISE E-PRICE $26,089

Actually there are , depending on what you consider to be "many". At the beginning of the memorial holiday weekend I counted the inventory on all the dealer's websites for a radius of 150 miles from me in the very bottom of Connecticut. There were almost 150 prime Advanced alone in all colors . By the end of the holiday weekend when I rechecked, the total count hadn't changed at all, although some dealers had gone up by 3 or 4 and some dealers had gone down by 3 or 4 in their inventory.

It's only getting later and later into 2018 so 2017's sitting around should be discounted more and more I would think. If I could get an Advanced for 25k (before 4,500 fed rebate) I'd probably pull the trigger.

i believe the best rebate is ny/nj. but you also have to negotiate discount as above. 26k is a very good price.

How is this price for new 2017 Prime Advanced? | PriusChat
Sorry for the cross-post, but I hadn't seen this thread before.
$27858 ALL-INCLUSIVE before tax, license, and reg. No xtras except All-Weather liners/cargo & $300+ special-paint charge for Blizzard Pearl white.
New York state dealer. 30 minutes from our Connecticut home.
Tell me where you are in Northeast, and I'll tell you where to go for similar deal, but $5k Toyota rebate expires June 4th. I contacted 40 dealers within 150 miles for ten days to get this price.

The deals were the best at Balise. Too bad they're gone now. When I was doing research, the only states that had $5000 were CT NJ and NY. $4500 in MA ME RI $3000 MD. These may or may not be accurate so check Toyota.com.

I paid 27793, after Toyota $5k rebate, before any state-imposed fees or taxes. Without the "special color" charge of 395 for white paint, it would have been 27398. Although my sales contract didn't break it out separately, the dealer's offer (at least in this area) usually includes about $900 for "destination charges",
which wouldd mean a "shady dealer" quote of 26500.

So, if you can get one for 25k even before all the other things are added, please send me a picture of your face, so I can hang it above my bed to worshipfully contemplate, when I get down on my knees every night to pray in awe of your fearsome Voodoo Child powers.

I need to create a tax liability to take advantage of the $4,502 federal tax credit. Is it difficult to convert my Traditional IRA to a ROTH IRA to create a $4,502 tax liability?

I assume I would need to complete this conversion in the 2018 tax year. Would somebody share the basic steps to do this conversion including how much i need to convert to create $4,502 tax liability (e.g., $50k, $75k, etc.) and how long the process takes (e.g., 30 days, 60 days, etc.)?
