I converted to MPG4, my only option. Didn't work.

    Shall do.

That's the problem. m4p (aka MPG4) is Apple proprietary file format, I think. I don't use iTune, but there has to be way to convert your m4p files to other compatible file format MP3/WMA/AAC. If iTune app can not do it, there are many free music file conversion apps. This may help. How to Convert iTunes M4P to MP3 - wikiHow

Could someone tell me a way I could play my large collection of 8-track and cassette tapes in our Prius? Also, how can I play my collection of 33 1/3 LP's, 45's and 78's in our Prius. And how can I play my collection of Edison cylinders from the 19-teens and 1920's in our Prius.

I've also got a massive number of music CD's but I've already copied all of them to micro-SD cards and to cloud storage so I can stream them from my phone to our Prius and our other vehicles' audio systems.

I don't know about 8-tracks, but tape and LP's there are digital converter available.

But if they are music tapes and albums, it would be much easier and better sound quality to look for those music online nowadays.

Something's not working. I figured out to transfer as MPG, but no go. I now officially give up.

Try transferring the audio files as WMA or MP3. Those protocols have worked in our past and current vehicles.

I was quite alive in the 1950's and remember when under-dash 45 rpm players were available for cars.

I was kidding about want to play vinyl records, cassettes, 8-track tapes, etc. in our Prius. My point is that technology changes and it's pointless to dig in ones heels and not adopt new technology. CD's were wonderful in their day but their day has passed.

You can use Audacity and convert any of them for free. Just need line out connections from a player device to the line inputs on your sound card. Then capture the sound card using Audacity. Nice tutorial on the Audacity site.

That's only if you have a working 8-track player. I can't remember ever seeing a portable 8-track player in my life. LOL

True on the 8-track but many still have cassette players in a closet. I was mostly posting for Audacity's ability to do this no matter what the input media is.

Now, quadraphonic 8-Track, that's a different matter all together. :p

ANY CD player will work, but you will not be able to use it via the touch panel. That said, you need to simply mount the cd player somewhere convenient, provide it with 12V power, and then splice the analog output wire on the back to the AUX input jack (or AUX wire) of the Prime. Switch your Prime to AUX input and then press the PLAY button on the CD player. VOILA!!

Well, an HOTT CD611 CD player works. Power from the 12V via an adapter, and input at the AUX jack using a 3.5mm audio cable

    Maybe this could work:
In fact, you can do it with a portable CD player, but you'll also need a Bluetooth transmitter. ... Connect the transmitter to the car's USB output for power, and it will convert the CD player output to Bluetooth, which you can then pair to your car's audio system.Sep 1, 2017

I'm in the same boat as you are! I'm using a portable CD player plugged in to the access point.

Convert to MP3 in iTunes and load them into your iPhone. Then enable bluetooth on phone and you're set. Access bluetooth on the Prius music system and find your phone-

Pair the phone with the car and it will play and select for you through steering wheel.

Yes! It is so easy. Buy a portable CD player that has a power port that is a micro USB port. Same plug that I use to charge my Android phone. Connect it's USB end to a plug that goes into the 12V socket. Then connect an auxillary cable to the earbud port and to the auxilary socket that is by the 12 V socket. Voila! CD player is powered and sound goes to your car speakers. Just select your source as the auxillary port.

I'm the 90's i had a Sony 5 CD juke box in my trunk with a remote. Seems as that would be a good solution to the original posting.

I ripped a lot of, but the MP3 playing interface is terrible on Prius.

I think the best way is to use Apple Music or Spotify and play music through bluetooth from iPhone.
