    Hello all!

Tomorrow I’m looking at a 2017 Prius Prime Advanced. It has 22,000 miles on it and prices about $25,700. Is there anything I should specifically ask at the dealer tomorrow? I’m bringing my brother with me who will be great at hammering down the price, but he does not give a single shit about Priuses, therefor knows nothing about them and won’t have any Prius specific questions.

I’ve read that the battery is under warranty for 10 years or 150,000 miles but I’ve also read that it is covered for the life of the car? Which is correct?

This is my first “big girl car” with payments and all that. I’m really just looking for something I can have for a looooong time to not have to go through this process again.

ALSO. I live in Massachusetts and with every single road having as many holes as a piece of Swiss cheese, this makes me nervous about the low clearance they have. Any Boston natives that can either ease my mind or let me know it actually does suck?

Hello and welcome to Prius Chat. Only been to Boston MA once and never drove myself around but @bisco live in MA with an older Gen 3 Plug-in Prius. Perhaps he can come back and advise you. Thanks bisco! (y)

    welcome!

yes, one important thing! a used prime does not qualify you for the $6,000. state and fed tax credits. someone already got them, and is trying to sell you a used $28,000. car for $25,700.

once you begin another search, some things to keep in mind.

    1) yes, the battery warranty is 10/150.

    2) there are comments here from bad roads all over the world. pot holes are fine, dirt/gravel roads are tenuous, parking curb stops are an issue (don't pull in too far) and steep driveways may be a problem where they meet a flat surface.

    c) very recently, perhaps still, iirc, ma dealers were offering $4,500. toyota rebate on 2017's. there is also a recent college rebate. if you want toyota financing, the rebate goes away or the finance rate goes up.

    4) on top of that, some people were getting another discount from the dealers, upwards of $5,000.
between that and the rebates and the tax credits, these cars are selling as low as $18,000. before ttl.

    e) before doing anything rash, i would seriously read through the prime pricing sticky thread. you live in the cheapest area of the country to buy a prime, don't get taken!

    6) all the best!(y)

Was that a wink? Your post #4 stalled at 2) for a long time IMHO and I thought you'd had a mental block.(n)

@bisco covered it all in post #3. Yes $4500 cash rebate on NEW Prime is still good. Also, you get better rate on financing a new car than used car. I would look for a brand new 2017 PRIME in stock. They would be close to or better price in the end with federal and state tax credit. Good luck.
