General Motors Co. said will increase production of its Bolt battery-electric vehicle this year in response to global demand, according to 2017 sustainability report it released ahead of the company’s annual shareholders meeting.
    . . .
GM Chairman and CEO Mary Barra also said at least 20 new all-electric vehicles will launch globally by 2023, and that GM is partnering with utilities and governments to accelerate the growth of charging infrastructure as it looks to deliver on its vision of an “all-electric, emissions-free” future. “We believe the future is electric,” she said.

Nice if they are truly going to help expand the charging infrastructure.

Finally saw my first gen2 Volt yesterday. Got me wondering why GM hasn't expanded the use of the technology. Perhaps they are waiting for the market to be ready, like Toyota.;)

It's so strange to hear that some people don't see vehicles that we see in California. Volts gen 1 and 2 are a normal sighting on a daily basis. How often do you see a Tesla!?

....Finally, GM also recommitted to be fossil fuel-free by 2050. The automaker wants its entire operations to run exclusively on renewable energy in the coming decades.

    Interesting...

I still take a picture of 'em they're so rare in my part of the world. They're usually on a trailer headed further south for delivery (being pulled by an F250; oh the irony).

Do you really want me to blow your mind? I think I've only seen about three Gen4 prius locally since they came out!

Wow! We see tons of Bolts here in OC, LA & around San Diego counties as well as X's 3's & Model S's. We drove to our club house nearly a year ago, & bam .... what should be parked next to my better ½. They'd already started getting as thick as flys on poo.

    image000000.jpg

And driving home in my junkie Leaf just past the Irvine train station - some gal near there, she wraps hers in gold pearl on flat orange ..... because that's what's necessary to stand out - if that's important (to some).

you can't cross the street here without almost getting hit by a tesla, but a volt or bolt sighting is rare.

we already see more primes than volt and bolt combined.

See plenty of Teslas around here, not too many Bolts though.

Saw my second Model X last week; the first one was in NJ. Maybe a handful of Model S's. About the same of gen1 Volts and the two Ford Energi's. A couple of Leafs, a iMiEV, and 2 smart EDs; the previous Domino's owner had one for deliveries.

So far, just two Primes. A PiP would have been easily missed amoung the gen3s here. Not counting gen4s, but they are here. From a distance, a Bolt could have been mistaken for a Sonic, and so could have the gen2 Volt and Fords been taken for their non-plug brethren.

For comparison with rare ICE cars on my local travels. There was a Maserati Ghibli, DeLorean, and Suzuki X90 I've spotted a couple times for each on my commute. I saw a Pinto with classic car plates once.

there was a bolt parked in front of the classic car dealer down the street, it was a nice juxtaposition.

I see electric cars every day I drive.
Typically the most common are Tesla’s (not counting mine or my wife’s). Followed closely by an even split between Volt’s and Leafs.
Bolt’s and Model 3s are both pretty rare. Part of the issue with Bolt’s is I don’t know that I simply miss them as they don’t stand out as much.
I’ve seen 3 Primes outside of car events. The dimple in the back glass makes them easy to identify from behind.

I see Teslas occasionally in the Cary NC area. Affluent area and it is essentially a suburb of Raleigh where they have a sales outlet. I live 50 miles south and saw my first Model S around my small town yesterday parked in back of an animal hospital. Never a Model 3, mostly Model S and one X. My local GM dealer has had one Bolt as best I can tell. Haven't seen any. Primes relatively common both areas. Leafs not so much. NC is not a place you drive somewhere and catch a train to work. Very little public transit infrastructure and what there is are buses.

Not counting the Bolt I test drove at the Chevy dealer, I've only seen one in the wild. I do see just as many Teslas as I see Gen4/Prime Prii. I saw my first Gen 2 Leaf yesterday.

It looked bigger than the Gen 1 I saw earlier in the day. Funny, but I didn't notice what it was until I saw the Zero Emissions on the back.

If the range meets your needs, keep an eye out on the 2018s when the 2019s reach the showrooms.
The 2019s will have a greater range as well as an active battery management system.
The deals on 2018s may be substantial.

i think between 50 and a hundred miles would be perfect for me. won't thermal management really drive the price up?
