Quick Question: Is there a way to visually tell if an igniton coil is bad?

    Question in title. I'm in the middle of changing my spark plugs. Was just wondering if there's a way to visually check if the coil is bad. I don't have a multimeter or anything.

    Here's a pic of them if it helps. There's some brownish copper looking residue towards the top of one of them and the bottom of two of them.

    Rust stains? Dirt? Clean off the residue using isopropyl alcohol.

    You can pull the coils, insert a spark plug, ground the plug to the engine, disconnect fuel injector electrical connections and run the engine in inspection mode, see if there's a spark. More info in the attachment.
