    Some of us could all cite older cars from many manufacturers that failed us back in the day. For me it was Volvo, Alfa, VW, Alfa, GM, Porsche, Ford, GM, Chrysler, Chrysler, Nissan. Honda, Honda, Honda. Either mechanically unreliable or rust buckets in the mid-Atlantic region. What have I had recent good experiences with? Porsche, Honda, Toyota and Toyota. One problem at 60k, zero problems at 60k, zero problems at 60k and 1 problem at 45k. Car makers have had to up their game to meet customer expectations lest the car reviewers savage them.

    I welcome the i-pace and the bolt. The bolt started as a conventional car, but the i-pace appears to be designed from the ground up. The bolt is much more affordable. The i-pace's problem probably is mainly price especially if 2 years from now we get a tesla model Y to more or less directly compete against it.

    $71K for an 90kwh i-pace, $59K for a tesla model 3 long range (80.5kwh) with dual motors premium upgrades and autopilot, $85K for a 75kwh dual motor model X. The i-pace seems to hit the spot for a midsized tall sporty station wagon/CUV between the model 3 and X. It is much smaller than the model X and should be faster with better fit and finish than the non-permformance X's. Tesla has had quality problems with the X's and I would not expect jaguar to be lower quality, although it's battery and motor units still need to be proven. The problem for the i-pace is competion from the gasoline models and if tesla makes the Y which is in the same size class.

    Hopefully the i-pace will sell to those that want such a vehicle. Tesla probably won't have good availability of anything similar for a few years. BMW is pushing out small batteried phevs that need some work.

    i found an article that said the i-pace sold twenty in france compared to 16 model x.

    the x's fails are in the realm of annoyances, as opposed to the Jaguar that simply won't start on occasion - in addition to the buggy electronic annoyances. That's why the X rates high with consumers.

    We don't have I-Pace metrics in the EPA data so I used UK numbers to estimate what they will be. As for the Chevy Bolt, there is speculation it may show up if GM can figure out how to sell in a market they have withdrawn so I've only included the Bolt EPA metrics:

    Looks like Tesla shorted the stated range of their models in the UK. Considering the complaints against the new Leaf, that is probably good practice.

    My approach is to use EPA and UK metrics as ground truth or as factual as we can get. But there was no I-Pace metrics in the EPA.

    There were four Teslas in both the EPA and UK metrics. So used the ratio of the EPA and UK metrics to calculate an average correction factor for each metric. Then I applied the average correction factor to the UK I-Pace values to estimate the likely EPA values.

    I appreciate there may be press releases with other values. Even these estimates are trusting the UK metrics to be accurate and there is a somewhat linear offset between the UK and EPA values. It is just another way to guesstimate I-Pace likely metrics.

    yes 90 kwh of liquid cooled pouch cells in a skateboard design that is part of the structure of the car. This is similar to the model X except for the cell type. The cells are supplied by lg chem the same supplier as the bolt and volt, although we don't know if they have the same chemistry.
