    Hi there,

New to PriusChat and looking for some advice in regards to maintenance. I bought my car almost 2 years ago with 80k miles on it and now it has 115k miles. Previous owner took excellent care of it, and it is running great, but I have not done anything to it other than consistent oil changes and new tires. I have heard a few different opinions, but is there any maintenance/service that is crucial to the longevity of my beloved Prius? Appreciate any and all feedback.

    welcome!

there is a maintenance schedule in the owners manual. you are approaching 120k, when all the fluids and spark plugs get changed.
on top of that, many experts here recommend changing the tranny fluid, which is considered 'lifetime' by toyota.
    all the best!(y)

Clean the EGR cooler, clean the intake manifold and PCV hose. Install PCV catch can. Watch your oil consumption and coolant level. Some of the members actually use 0w40 versus the 0w20 oil Toyota recommends.
I preferred to run E0(ethanol free) gasoline in my Prius. After fuel mileage dipped below my average, I switched. Tank at change over was 41 mpg. Tank 3 was running almost 61 mpg. I have seen a similar improvement in my non-Prius vehicle. First tank was 11.2, second tank is 14.5. About a 12% improvement each tank. I tested a sample of the 3rd tank in the Prius and found no measurable ethanol, and when running, the ICE was significantly more smooth at idle.
When I get the engine replaced in mine, I’ll continue to run the E0, and probably switch over to a 0w40.

"Lifetime" to a manufacture mean until the warranty expired...

Yeah if you want the transaxle fluid to have a long lifetime, I'd recommend to change it early, around the one year mark, then maybe 30K, and 90K miles.

Crucial maintenance, in order of importance

    1. Clean the EGR circuit
    2. Change transaxle fluid
    3. Change engine and inverter coolant
    4. Change air filters
    5. Clean throttle body

    At 150k miles

Change your spark plugs and PCV valve

    Sounding like the others.
Change transaxle fluid(Nothing is lifetime in my opinion)
Change coolant for inverter and ICE.
    Change the spark plugs.
Remove the intake and clean the EGR ports and throttle plate.
New intake and cabin air filter.
It sounds like a lot but with the right tools, a little time, and Utube it goes pretty fast.
