    Profit!!!!!

    Old habits die hard.

Yorkshire is a major county in England, however, to any Yorkshireman, English grammar is not as important as the Yorkshire dialect. End of...

I just learned how to use the ignore block feature. Thanks Sam

No one needs or wants all of that negativity when their already dealing with problems of their own. We're here for answers. Not rude comments from people who think they are smarter than everyone else.

Guess some people just can't take a joke.
    Or maybe even recognize one.

AND.....pointing out the possible negative outcomes of a situation is called "being realistic".

Ignoring those possible bad outcomes is called "being stupid". How's that for being negative ??

    Drove above the speed limit.
    Normal mode.
AC on 95% of the time.
    Set at 62-65.
Temp got into the mid 90s.
    No ECO driving whatsoever.
    Shell Premium Nitro.
This is my "Mad Max" tank.

Did the numbers lie? I still don't know.

Really we should be asking if 62mpg (US) is achievable. Those figures give a fuel volume of 11.16 US Gallons of fuel, which is a about 2 pints under the fuel tank size (although I am converting through metric here as my manual quotes the tank size as 43 litres). If you fill to the brim and run for 20 to 30 miles after the warning light comes on, then that adds up.

So who else in the US gets 62mpg, according to their car? I see a lot of people with figures in that range.

Sorry for the confusion. That picture is from the previous tank. I was just reminding one of the posters about the "glitch." I am still not sure what my true total miles driven was. And the MPG on the display showed 62, but when using a calculator it came out to 71.

I'm now on the second tank, same Shell gas. The miles driven, and the MPG display does seem to be operating normally now. I have gone 88 miles, and the distance-to-empty shows 524. So that's normal. The 700 mile glitch will just have to remain a mystery. When I'm done with this tank I will go back to buying the cheap gas.

I had three straight 800 mile tanks - all first click stopped at the pump. Hard to hold your concentration that long - but it can be done.

Details, sir. We need details. Teach us mere mortals how to get 800 big ones out of a tank. ;)

    Your highest speed?
    Your average speed?
    Ever use the AC?
    What driving mode?
How much air in the tires?
    Where did you drive?
    City, Freeway?
Was it normal commuting, or strictly a distance-to-empty test?
What brand and octane of gas?
And did you ever run out of gas?

Just noted that his answers are interleaved in the quoted post.

Great thread, though. I enjoyed the drama and build up to your second tank. A bit of a cliffhanger for a time there.

Your average speed? Slow, really slow
Ever use the AC? No, windows open.
City, Freeway? Some freeway driving in the morning, but surface streets 75% of the time.
Was it normal commuting, or strictly a distance-to-empty test? day to day commuting. 2400 miles of everyday driving.
What brand and octane of gas? Cheap. Regular grade. Arco and Chevron[/QUOTE]

    Respect!

I'm in milder UK climate, but without hypermiling and occasional bursts of agressive acceleration (?) I am averaging 72mpg (indicated) in summer with constant A/C running occasionally leaving swmbo sat in car with full a/c for 15 mind while I dash into the dispensary. Cooler months, the mpg falls to about 60 indicated. Lazy so-and-so that I am, I allow Toyota to do all the work for me!

Remember that a UK (Imperial) gallon is around 1.2 US Gallons. So 72MPG (UK) is 86MPG (US).

Full glass of whisky is definitely not a placebo effect. Wine is a poor substitute BTW.
