Dr. Prius App - Prius Gen1 beta testers wanted !

Hi guys,

I am the developer of Dr. Prius App, the App currently supports Gen2, Gen3, Gen4 (both NiMH and Lithium) and Lexus Hybrid, only thing left to do is Prius Gen1 which has becoming very very rare !

I did work with several wonderful Gen1 owners from US east coast, and we did able to extract all the PIDs, however the Gen1 ECU seems to be on the slow side that prevent the App from calling PIDs at once. I am reaching out to this wonderful community to see if anyone in the SoCal area (Los Angeles) that willing to rent me his/her Gen1 for two hours at any given day (with compensation), I don't even need to drive the car, just need to sit there with my laptop on and find the correct time-delay to run the OBD2 commands.

An interesting fact that if you search on local Craigslist, a healthy Gen1 is selling at a higher price than a similar Gen2, from my point of view Gen1 certainly has it's historical value!!

 

haha, thanks, long story short I used to be a RC airplane test pilot specialize in 3D flying. In couple cases I flew till the wing(s) fall off hence the the nickname ripper..

to back my story here is an old clip that someone took from my back, it was an unsuccessful attempt in ripping the wing off but you get the idea

Thanks for the feedback, after launching the App, please click on the "Click here for Demo" and it will take you to the Monitor page where you can watch pre-recorded battery data in action, then like any other Apps, click on the hamburger icon on the top left corner to see the menu options.

In the menu option you will see the following main features of the App:

1. Monitor page - Battery telemetry
2. Full battery diagnostic - Run a series of test including load testing on the battery system.
3. Life expectancy test - Going through a series of process to calculate the remaining capacity of the battery.
4. Special feature - Many useful tool for your hybrid vehicle including get/reset error code, apply extra cooling to the battery.. etc
5. Repair shop around you - This page show you any hybrid repair shop in the neighborhood.

The following demonstration video is a bit old but should be able to give you an idea:

The monitor page and special feature page are free, the other two test pages can be unlocked (in-app purchase) for 7.99 USD, it is the same purchasing process as any other App in the app store.

Hi RJ, that is actually not a bad idea especially when daughter profit more on selling girl scout cookie then me selling the App, haha, glad I didn't quit my day job.

Flying RC airplane with all types of battery also got me into this battery testing business, I also have prototype Prius battery being worked on in the factory using LTO chemistry that suppose to out last NiMH, let me see if I am allow to upload pictures here for a quick sneak peak.
