I figured there was some fiddling involved :(. I’ll just keep using the alligator clips for now:).

Currently working on 120 feet of fencing replacement, which had some interesting twists as we went along today.

    Hope tomorrow’s build goes well(y).

    Tomorrow’s jack hammer day:)!

We tried augering through the soil today and it was just too rocky:mad:.

Only ended up striking one unmarked , active backyard water line which will have to be repaired later in the week:cool:.

But we live to fight another day(y).

Cold and rainy up here. The only project I've got on at the moment: is to convince son he wants to take the dog for the evening walk.

It was 66 and sunny here today:).

No trouble convincing my old man or her cousin to help;).

My son ended up wandering out to “help” as much as a 6 year old can:whistle:.

He was more than happy to play with a spare drill though(y).

Rather than start a new thread I figured I'd just revive this one with my question. I'm looking for a maintainer for the 12v for the week that the car is turned off during the HV battery maintenance every 6 months. Is this one OK or should I pay $10-15 more for the Battery Minder?

I'm only going to be using it a couple of weeks a year. I see it's a better system but with such limited use, what about the CTEK justifies the additional cost?

Well, I finally caved in and bought a 12v charger/maintainer. I came across the following one at a store that handles Costco closeouts and only paid $26.99 for it. That's a full $13 cheaper than it was anywhere else, including what I found online.

10/2/50 Amp 12V Manual Charger With Engine Start

3 day’s sale for $29.99 (with coupon), and a Harbor Freight is a mile or two from my dad’s place. What do you guys think? I’m visiting my dad tonight so may as well get one right?

While I’m a Harbor Freight frequenter, I shy away from their battery chargers;).

I have the BatteryMINDer 1510 and I could let you borrow it :).

It desulfates the battery and keeps it well maintained. Our 2010’s original battery lasted 8.5 years utilizing this handy device;).

    Let me know(y).

Hi Ray, thanks for your insite and offer, I will stay away from that one in Harbor Frieght then. :ROFLMAO:

I can’t or won’t borrow yours, thank you very much, as I don’t even know when I will put it on the charger. I park on the streets, so it’s either using it at my dad’s or my in laws place. But something definitely I want to have on hand once opportunities arises, as my Prius and the 12v is at 4 and a half years of age.(y) Try to keep the 12v going for 8years just like you.:sneaky:

I won’t need ours for another couple of years;).

So all it is doing is sitting on the shelf. I don’t mind it being put to use:).

But if you were spending the $45 on the harbor freight charger, the BatteryMINDer 1510 is almost the same price ;).

That’s what I would buy if you don’t want to borrow(y).

Seems like BatteryMINDER is the way to go! (y) I will look up Amazon for it, thank you both for the suggestions.

Actually I don’t mind paying a little more for a known brand, I’m more about better value than better price, but asked since I will be driving by a Harbor Freight Tools :)rolleyes:well, not necessarily going into) later today and the email advertisement got me thinking this is something I want.

The 1500 and the 1510 are identical products. The 1510 is more money due to longer warranty/more accessories.

As near as I can tell, the desirability of AGM de-sulfating battery chargers goes up with cost - BatteryMINDER 12117> 1500>1510> NOCO Genius G3500> CTEK MUS 4.3> Optima Digital 400> PulseTech XC100-P

I bought this to maintain the charge on my riding mower for $16. It's similar to battery tender.

I installed the ring terminals on the mower permanently and just have the pigtail hanging. If you buy additional ones if you have a motorcycle or ATV. Nice thing, it comes w/ battery clamps too.

It doesn't turn on until it detects live connection and correct polarity so there's no spark when you hook them up. I've read a lot of places saying that battery maintainer should be low amp to keep the battery from overheating.
