    Hi guys,

One Dr. Prius user from Australia reached out to me with Delta SOC swing between 2~3.5%. Since we don't have Prius V Lithium in the US therefore I am not sure if that's a OK number or not.

Usually in a regular NiMH Prius, Delta SOC > 0 means battery is unbalance, how about Prius V Lithium? has anyone experienced the same?

It would be nice to see how Toyota designed the V to handle the lithium pack. The voltage is similar to the NiMH pack.

Since the lithium V does not have a charger there is no way to keep the pack topped off like a regular lithium plugin, except through the hybrid system (which only keeps the pack charged in narrow range) and because of the degradation issues with lithium, I think the difference will only be greater and greater. Especially if it's in a hot part of Australia. So a very interesting situation for the lithium V. As long as there is no error code lighting up, should be Ok.

On top of that Toyota put 7 Lithium cells into one block as you can see in the voltage chart, that's a risky move consider Lithium's not-so-perfect history, in my opinion every Lithium cell should be monitor like the Prius Gen4 Lithium does.

Dr. Prius shows 3.50 - 4.00% for mine, with an extensive logging of three 10-mile drives.
    Car is 2012 Prius+ with 205 000 km (about 130 000 miles).

No idea if this is ok or not. Car seems to work fine. Battery test performed by Toyota during maintenance was ok too.

Thanks for the information, I will adjust the Delta SOC threshold higher for Prius V lithium.
btw, I recently learnt that Prius Gen1 Delta SOC starting at 20% brand new!!

My car JDM Prius Alpha 2015, 91k km. I attached video of Battery reading by dr Prius. The video was taken from City ride. Here Delta SOC varies from 5 -5.5%. But, when it went to 5%, it showed green color. Does it mean threshold limit upto 5% is safe?

@Ohid personally, I believe delta SOC should be 0 to be considered good battery, but obviously Toyota has different opinion and put different threshold on different model.
For Gen1, delta SOC starting at 20%
For Gen2 and Gen3, anything more than 0% is bad.
now looks like Alpha has a starting point of 5%? or did you just recently got that 5%?

I just checked recently. Yesterday, it also gave 4.5%. It is nearly 6 years old car. If it is tested any new one, it will give better understanding.

N.B. I found some threads in priuschat of Nimh battery which Delta SOC was 0.00% but voltage difference is higher and they had to change cells as well as whole pack. What is the explanation in this reading then?
