I came across this app recently. It connects with any Bluetooth OBD2 device.
And get you some nice control over some functions.
Called "Hybrid Assistant" and it works on other generation of Prius and other Hybrid models also.
You can set min and maximum temps on the Hybrid pack that triggers the fan to ramp up to full speed. Has some other useful info.. temps on engine, inverter, MG1, MG2..
I live in a very sunny, hot dry climate . And the inside of your car can get very very hot...
Heat is the killer of batterys.. so this app may help you out if you have a pack that's a bit old and extra sensitive.. or your getting a thermal warning..
I'm using an Android phone, not sure about iPhone support.
The only issue I've had is that it does NOT seem to get the MPG correct.. it's WAY off.. and I'm not sure why.
They have a support contact.. and they did respond to my inquiry very quickly.. asked me to send a log. I did . They suggested some changes in the settings. That made no different.
I suspect it's trying to display L/100klm or some other Euro output.. or it's miscalculation on the app.
But it's very useful for the battery temp..control and monitoring other temps and outputs.
And it can be set to automatically reconnect and start when the car does. I've not seen it cause any later in my phone either while connected or when sitting in waiting.

HA is a known app on PriusChat. It does have many useful features. Be forewarned that if you run it during every drive, every day for a while it can lead to some screen ghosting/burn-in. Don't ask how I know that.

In the end, I was running it for no real benefit other than "info overload". It does give some nice data though especially if used with its companion app, Hybrid Reporter.

I would love something like that. Just looked in the Apple store, didn't find it but found a couple others with some potential. I need to get engine sump and inverter/transmission temps (the motors would be a nice bonus) because with my very hot climate and long commute under heavy load, I want to upgrade the inverter heat exchanger sooner rather than later if it looks like it would be beneficial. This would be exactly what I need for recording data. I guess I need to look into some sort of Bluetooth/OBD interface???

I can not get this app to connect. All the other apps work fine for me.

Weird. It linked right up for me. You may have to fair your Bluetooth OBD2 adapter to the phone first.
Mine automatically reconnect to the car cery fast. 99.9% of the time.. usually it's the BT adapter that's needs a reboot when it fails to initiate.

My other apps use the same OBD2 adapter and work fine.

There's so many cheap knock off OBD2 devices and the good ones are similar in price to the garbage ones. Here's only article I've found thus far that tries to out the bad ones: Hybrid battery diagnostic and repair tool for Toyota and Lexus

I didn't pay much for mine, but the question remains: why does my cheapo work with all the other Prius apps, but not this one?

I've already got my money back for the past two cheap ones I bought (why I like ebay) because they couldn't read anything other than most basic info... Catch is the truly good ones at times are only a few bucks more expensive than the junk ones and other than the link I posted above your comment, I can't find anyone documenting the difference between the junk ones and the good ones.

Use the About... menu in Hybrid Assistant. It has a link to their website and an entire secton on BT/OBD adapters with recommendation on one that works well.

They've added features to remedy that.
