The Costco $0.01 installation is good for only a set of 4, not if you buy two? Not sure how that works. I’m loyal to my local America’s Tire.

Yea, I think so too. 30-35k mi in SoCal. I agree with everything you mentioned. The new ones would be Michelin Defender T+H.

I am planning on purchasing a set of 4 for the rebate, but debating staggering installation. They said the installion rate applies to up to 4 tires I install at time of purchase. So I can do just 2 at 1¢ rate, but the other two will be normal $15 rate if done at a later time. But given the above quote from Salamander, probably going to switch out all 4. Not penny pinch.

Yeah, seems like a lot of juggling and complication to save %14.99.

Well, it’s hard to determine the probability (my worst math subject) of whether your current good two remaining tires will wear out, and whether this so happens to fall on the same time frame as a future $0.01 installation sale, but it’s definitely a possibility if the moons are aligned just right...

I’m for changing just the two. (I’m more of an if it ain’t broke kind of guy. I did mention ours currently has 3 original Toyos and 1 Kumho)?

I still think changing all 4 tires is the best answer for you. That said, if you only need to replace 1 tire (say because of sidewall puncture) and 3 others are still in good condition with 4/32-6/32 inch of tread left. You could potentially save some money (not a lot though), by purchasing single tire of exactly same Yoko model, and have tire place "shave" the tread down to match the rest of 3 tires. I have never done this before, so I don't know how much they will charge for this special service. I think Tire Track dose this. You can potentially save a few hundred dollars now by not purchasing 3 more tires. Just a thought.;)
