You retirees with all this time on your hands:p.

I use the spray wax as getting enough time to do anything else is challenging :(.

When we are down to Mickeys Funland after thanksgiving I could leave our 2010 with you and it could be waxed properly:).

Let me know if you want a way to occupy your time(y).

Sorry, I'm busy feeding the ducks and birds. Us retirees never have a spare moment. ;)

    Peaceful. :D

I've got several reasons for doing that. Primarily because I tire easy, lol. I've just washed and dried the car. Then had dinner, and here it's 7~8 PM I'm apply wax with the garage lights and a pit lamp, CBC on the radio. And the blinking 24 trillion spoke rims...

Man, it's tea time after all that: let it "cure" overnight. Last reason: there tend to be water droplets still in the corners, and they mess things up when buffing. Sitting overnight they dry more. And this is after doing the drying with a leaf blower, followed up with towels.

At a car wash? Really? Do they do a good wax job? (Certainly not the automated spray wax you pay a few bucks more for there? Do all car washes offer hand wax too? Do they usually do it well?

Are people in agreement with the poster who said to wait a couple of months? After that, how often do you wax?

People do realize the Prime is at least a month old when it arrives at a US dealer don’t they?

It's ok, was driving it today, a 2018 Mazda CX-5. Has more safety features, blind spot alerts in the side mirrors for example. And the back up camera has guidelines, it's actually useful. Still, I feel more at home in our Prius.

Yes, I meant a hand wax. Most all places do basic wax/detailing. Even the Toyota dealers offer a detail service for $150, if you want to pay that ridiculous amount. It's up to you how often you wax your car. It's not going to hurt anything. I do mine every month because I'm old and bored to death. :ROFLMAO: And then it's covered with dirt about 4 days later.

Just do it.... and Just drive it.

Did Mendel secretly buy a Mazda? :)
I was looking at all the Mazda vehicles before I got the Prius. I'm still considering a change to a small/midsize SUV. The Prius is Ok for just around town, but for many things it just seems too small, and too fragile.

You will find that around here we feel fully empowered to answer questions that you didn't ask

The best time to visit any amusement park is on a day where it has rained all morning then is forecast to be clear the rest of the day. Most people will change their plans and won't go that day, so you will have the park practically to yourself all the way until closing. This works even during the busy season. Of course that's easier done if the amusement park is relatively local not one that you are going to on vacation.

General overview.....Your paint is cured from the factory. Imho if at any point it needs paint correction it will return to the body shop It will simply be polished.

Please do not have the dealer up sell you there forever wax aka paint protection, or anything pertaining to interior & exterior detail services...My suggestion don't have the dealer wash or prep the car...

    Please start researching....
    1 Wax
    2.Sealants
    3 Ceramic Coating

4 Film protection aka clear bra.....

Yes you mentioned simply wax but just encase your not aware of the other options....

Not sure what county you are in but regardless.... Start looking into professional auto detailers whether mobil or at a shop.

Lastly coating are not cheap. They are currently the newest and most desirable and have a warranty. If you start researching or discuss with your detailer of choice. Again that if you go this route.

Again not all detailer will have the same setup or brands...Discuss any concerns or issue with you detailer of choice.....
    Congrats on your new purchase....

    hope this helps

One of my local drive thru car washes has a service menu that includes a "Hand Wax" for about $50. I did it once for The Prius. But, they sent two "kids" out to my car, then they just used a spray on, wipe off "instant wax".
Probably took them less than 10 minutes.
I watched them, and even in my current shape, I was kind of like....I could do that, and save $50.

Didn't seem worth the money to me. If it was an actual paste wax, with actual buffing removal?
Well then of course it would cost a lot more.

    Maybe not a paste wax.

The paint needs to be thoroughly cleaned better than a good wash. There are ways...clay bar, liquid cleaner that does the clay bar job, polish that brings up a shine (but not protection). Then the surface is protected with either wax (shiniest but short life), polymer sealant (long life), or semi-permanent clear coat, a.k.a. ceramic or nano coating (very long life).

Just the spray & wipe is a scam for $50. I do that after every wash in the winter to give the surface the shiniest, slickest surface to shed winter slop. It lasts a week or two. Ten minutes to do it. Turtle Wax Ice spray wax is my current favorite.

That's Soul Red Mica (2.0 but version 2.0 isn't mentioned anywhere... after around 2017 is when they updated Soul Red Mica).

Yeah I can imagine - for any pearlescent paint or complex paints like that (and Blizzard Pearl and Hypersonic Red)
