Just picked up a set of stock rims/tires for my 2010, what would be better...swap out sensors or have the others programmed to my Prius.
BTW I'm keeping the new set and selling the old, both have sensors and tires?

Whoever buys yr old wheels can help u decide... Are the old wheels aftermarket?

But it's my understanding that TPM sensors are fairly universal and most don't have much need for reprograming...

I vote program the new sensors. You have two sets of tires to dismount and mount otherwise, with TPMS sensor service kit for each tire/wheel....

Both sets are OEM, have silver rims wanted black so purchased a set...just hate that TPM dash light on so would have to reprogram them.

Now, I understand what you are questioning. You bought a new set of OEM wheel and tire with OEM TPMS in them, and switched to that new set and your car's TPMS light is lit. Yes, you do have to go thru TMPS "re-learn" process in order to register new set of TPMS IDs to your car's ECU. To do that DIY, you will either have to use Techstream or Ateq Quickset tool (or similar TPMS scanning/programing tool). Any reputable tire shop can also do that, though I don't know how much they charge. Most of my local tire shop will do it for $5. Whatever you do, I advise not to take it to dealer. They will charge you upward of $100 for a few minutes of computer work.

Keep new ones and reprogram, leave old ones in old tires to maximize resell value. Life of the new TPMS will be longer vs old one obviously because of battery life.
