Elon has enabled expanded range and free Supercharging for all those in affected areas for a limited period of time. Let's see, when will the legacy automakers offer free gasoline and larger gas tanks for those same people?

Say what you want about Elon, but he does know how to grab headlines for free advertising while doing some public good. Although I find him exasperating at times, you would have to be very cynical or a greedy Tesla short not to root for him to succeed and his Quixotic quest to change the world.

I’m a Tesla fan, but a lot of this is self promotion. No poor souls struggling to make ends meet to get free fuel.

Well, extra capacity access is nice.

No problems talking about Tesla here, but strange if that is a posters predominant topic on these boards.

Strange that people who don't own a Tesla post on these boards.

Nope, quite the other way around. Hence not called TeslaChat.

I also don’t go over to mynissanleaf and spend almost 100% of the time (or any time) shilling for Toyota. Not even in a Toyota sub forum. That would be awkward, to put it nicely.

I have not heard this news! Being in the eye of the storm and most of the area impacted, I know this will mean a lot to Tesla owners in the region. Good job Elon!

This IS the Tesla sub-forum. If you don't want people to discuss Tesla on Prius Chat, petition the site owner to delete the sub-forum.

Do you own a LEAF? I own a PIP. As soon as I sell my PIP, I will leave Prius Chat.

And there are plenty of Prius owners on Tesla forums who openly state that will never purchase a Tesla, some of them from Prius Chat! ;)

If you want the ordinary rabble to drive BEVs then perhaps you might want to consider dialing back the tribalism and confronting FUD with light rather than heat.
As far as the publicity stunt, I think that its a little bit of a false equivalency to suggest that the legacy automakers should be supplying free petrol since unlike Tesla they're not using gas stations as a part of their revenue stream.

Also, we're only talking about, what?
8 stations in South Carolina and 6 in North Carolina?

    Are they all open?
Are any of them equipped with solar?

If not then Musk, who may or may not have ever gone through the aftermath of a major hurricane may want to consider backing away from this publicity stunt because power outtages are something of a 'thing' after a hurricane......

That could be taken as a passive attack to silence someone.
I haven't had a Prius or hybrid in over a decade, should I not be on Priuschat? A former poster here always brought that up when they had other arguments to counter my stance in discussions.
This isn't a first. Tesla did this in hurricane areas last year. The gas shortages in Florida because of Irma meant Superchargers were more reliable for fueling during that time.

You are misinformed. Superchargers are NOT part of Tesla's revenue stream. They were never intended to be. Elon has stated that they were constructed to be revenue neutral.

That's better than nothing from the gasoline stations.

Are all of the gasoline stations open? Are any of them equipped with solar?

I have gone through the aftermath of a Cat 5 hurricane, for the record. Power was restored way before any of the gasoline stations could be opened again. Elon's "publicity stunt" is to get people as far out of town as possible BEFORE the hurricane strikes, not during it or immediately after it........when all the gasoline stations are closed, but you knew that didn't you.

A Tesla forum that is, but since you rarely post anything except Tesla shill, that makes one highly likely to be a Tesla shill. Other Tesla owners and fans here don't seem to have such behavior.

    I currently lease a 2016 Leaf.

The suggestion was not to leave PriusChat, it was to not be a shill. Lots of current and former Prius drivers here, and some own a Tesla, and many others are fans, but there is really just one guy here that is a Tesla shill. It mostly feeds the trolls.

Consider taking that up with them there. That would be really annoying if all they did was shill for Toyota on those forums. Could see why you would be upset.;)

Comments can be taken in many ways, and a person's partisan sympathies are most likely to influence this. Based on my comments, however, it should not be taken that way.

Was it suggested that you leave?

See above, it's almost entirely a problem with one frequent poster here who posts little else but Tesla Fandom. The vast majority of current/former Prius drivers like yourself post/comment on a broad range of subjects and make positive contributions across the board.

    Ummmm.
    No.
    Actually I didn't.
I've only been through 2 major hurricanes (Hugo in Charleston and Katrina on the Gulf Coast) and my remembrances of those aftermaths are different than yours.
As far as the income from charging stations, well....I'm kinda confused.
If there's no income from the supercharging stations, then why all of the public self-back patting over not charging for charging stations???
    Where's the money going?
    Gotit.
I remember that now, and with a little over 30 active charging stations in FL I'm sure it helped, although I'm on record as opposing their practice of software limiting the their battery packs....just so that they can dole out a few more miles of range whenever the mood strikes them.

It's totally legal mind you.....just a little too creepy for me.
It's like the planned obsolescence that Apple gets away with with their hardware.

Like many others.....I vote with my pocketbook.

    Also for the record:
I owe a debt to Tesla just as I do to Apple for the same basic reason.

I have a $200 Droid (Moto G5) that's about 9/10 as capable as the latest igear.....actually MORE capable if you consider the sandbox issues, but that's another minefield to play rugby in.

    Soon?
A similar BEV will be available for the same reason.

    Markets respond....

el Crucero, you are one of the worst offenders of name calling on this site, so quite hypocritical to bring that up. You can stick with arguing the facts, or continuing your nonsense.

I will try to un-confuse you. There is income from the Superchargers, but I repeat, it is revenue neutral. Do you know what that means? Tesla resells the electricity at the local cost of what they pay for it. Revenue neutral.

I guess you wont be purchasing Tesla or Apple products, thanks for telling us. So what else can we help you with on this Tesla sub-forum?

I hope so, more BEVs in the world will make it a healthier place to live with fewer global conflicts for limited oil resources. I just wish that Toyota was part of the BEV rEVolution.
