Guess it’s inevitable to end up with a few scrapes here and there, but never thought it would be at the hands of my better half.

Oh well, now to convince the better half to get it fixed cause it will drive me NUTS looking at/seeing this every day!

That's why the two halves should each have their own car. ;)

It’s too early for a battle scar! Yes, get it fixed is my vote....

We do, but it always falls onto me to care for the cars. I’ll see it every time I have to plug it in, every time I wash it, every time I pull in the garage beside it. Lol.

Exactly what I want to do, but was told it’s not worth it to the better half. Glad it has both our names. Now to figure out if it can be fixed under $500 or if I need to involve insurance.

The parking sensors are right there. How did the car allow you to get that close to whatever you hit? Automatic braking should have prevented that. I have my own scar but I was able to explain how the culprit in my particular case was undetected by the sensors.

I'm too chicken to use the Parking assist feature. What about you? | Page 3 | PriusChat

That would be caused by user error in this case.

Car was parked and off in the garage.

Better half did not pull up far enough and closed the garage door onto it not once or twice, but THREE times before wondering why garage door only closed partially and then reopened.

And now I noticed it even put a few little scratches into the lovely curved lens of the tail light too.

Yup. Does ours too, with enough space to walk behind the car still.

I'm ashamed to admit I did that once myself - good thing the Camry was pretty beat up by then. Only needs to happen once and you'll never make that mistake again.. hopefully.

I use tennis balls hanging from the garage ceiling to prevent further disasters...

Sorry to hear this happened. I also have my contribution. I’m not used to driving such a low vehicle (my other vehicles are a Chevy truck and Hummer H3). Needless to say I kissed the curb when parking. I only had it for 2 months when this happened. IMG_1353.JPG

Confusing, a garage door closes from the top, the scar I see is from driving into or over a 90 degree granite curb, the part scarred is under the car, not protruding, are we on the same page?

Yup. Mine came from the garage door coming down and scrapping on the way down and again on the way up.

Mine is the white prime. If you’re talking about the grey prime, that’s someone else’s and they said they kissed a curb.

Funny thing. My wife did the same thing a couple of weeks go to the front of her 2012 Prius V. Lucky it wasn’t my Prime, I might’ve shed a tear or two.

I do that too. Then, to be sure, I shift into reverse and look at the backup camera image. The red line needs to line up with the garage threshold (where the door closes) and then it is safe. I can check that I pulled in straight as well.

    Sorry to see this happen.

I have a cheap preventative. I purchased flat tire parking stops. They have two bumps. I cut off the (bottom) short end bump at the top of the bump so there's no mistaking how far to pull in, plus that makes one into two. Put one under each front tire so you have some space at the back between the car and garage door. Now when you pull in just stop at the bump and no worries. They're cheap insurance.

Note: after you get it placed, use a magic marker to mark the corner positions on the floor so you can easily put it back without remeasuring. You "will" wish you did this. Just glance at the alignment occasionally.

I purchased the "TruContain Parking Guide Parking Mat" from Amazon, but they're all over. I've been pleased with them since 2000.
